For much of the past century, the Dalai Lama has been the living embodiment of Tibet’s struggle for greater freedoms under Chinese Communist Party rule, sustaining the cause from exile even as an increasingly powerful Beijing has become ever more assertive in suppressing it. As his 90th birthday approaches this Sunday, the spiritual leader for millions of followers of Tibetan Buddhism worldwide is bracing for a final showdown with Beijing: the battle over who will control his reincarnation.
On Wednesday, the Dalai Lama announced that he will have a successor after his death, and that his office will have the sole authority to identify his reincarnation. “I am affirming that the institution of the Dalai Lama will continue,” the Nobel Peace laureate said in a video message to religious elders gathering in Dharamshala, India, where he has found refuge since Chinese communist troops put down an armed uprising in his mountainous homeland in 1959.
The cycle of rebirth lies at the core of Tibetan Buddhist belief. Unlike ordinary beings who are reborn involuntarily under the influence of karma, a revered spiritual master like the Dalai Lama is believed to choose the place and time of his rebirth – guided by compassion and prayer – for the benefit of all sentient beings.

If he is reincarnated with orange hair, look out.

Reincarnation does not exist. It is appointed man once to die and then the judgment. And thank goodness for that! I don’t want to come back! Heaven awaits for those who believe in Jesus as their savior. I believe!
Thank you for your note. It’s dead on God loves us more than we can even understand right what loving God would send you back to this place over and over and over again think about it. I studied Buddhism in my 30s. I sat twice a week with a monk, I learned a lot the religion has a lot of beautiful truths about God however, don’t laugh. The Catholic Church has its fault Human problems, but you can reach God with Catholic Church. Buddhism never quite gets there. Look at what they believe reincarnation❤️
The Dali Lama called Domino’s Pizza and said:
Make me one with everything.
Will he asking any more young boys to suck his tongue? That was years ago and I still haven’t unseen that horror.

You’all are slippin:
“And I say, ‘Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know.’ And he says, ‘Oh, uh, there won’t be any money. But when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.’ So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.”
Mongolia used to have a monk that they called the Living Buddha. Then in 1921 the communists took over the country. Three years later the Living Buddha died. By then the communist leader was a dictator named Choibalsan, who acted very much like Joseph Stalin. He declared that the Living Buddha had gone to Nirvana, and there would be no more incarnations. Buddhism in Mongolia hasn’t been the same since then. I suspect the Chinese government will try to do the same thing with the Dalai Lama.
He’s managed to elude capture, else his replacement (CCP puppet) would have been named long ago, as happened with the Panchen Lama.
Thanks, interesting about Mongolia:
