Activists on Wednesday called for more protests of a new law that they say weakens Ukraine’s anti-corruption watchdogs, following the first major anti-government demonstration in over three years of war.
The legislation, which has also drawn rebukes from European Union officials and international rights groups, has put increased pressure on President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and endangered his public support at a critical phase of the war.
Also on Wednesday, delegations from Russia and Ukraine met in Istanbul for a third round of talks in as many months. The talks appeared to have lasted less than an hour and yielded no breakthroughs. The two sides, however, agreed to exchange more prisoners of war.
In the morning, Zelenskyy convened the heads of Ukraine’s key anti-corruption and security agencies in response to the outcry against his decision to approve the law that was passed by parliament.
“We all hear what society says,” Zelenskyy wrote on Telegram after the meeting. But he insisted the new legal framework was needed to crack down harder on corruption.
“Criminal cases should not drag on for years without verdicts, and those working against Ukraine must not feel comfortable or immune from punishment,” he said.
Zelenskyy said all government agencies agreed to work constructively and respond to public expectations for fairness and effectiveness. A detailed joint action plan is expected within two weeks, aimed at addressing institutional weaknesses, removing legal hurdles and ensuring justice across the board, he said.
Thousands of people gathered in the capital and other cities Tuesday to urge Zelenskyy to veto the controversial bill. After he approved it, activists went on social media to call for another demonstration Wednesday night in central Kyiv.
Critics say the step could significantly weaken the independence of those agencies and give Zelenskyy’s circle greater influence over investigations.

Wouldn’t this be the Anti-anti-corruption Laws?...............
That’s one problem, here’s another that’s large:
“NATO needs 3 to 5 years to produce the same amount of ammo shells rockets tanks and drones and so on that
Russia churns out in just 3 to 6 months and we have seen NATO even speak about this.”
-Willy OAM, Ukraine supporter (Aussie) who served in the Ukraine Army in combat.
The foriegn offices in Ukraine have warned little Z that if any attempt is made to squash these protests his government will immediately cease to exist...sooner than expected.
Little bastards days are near end.
Imagine you are Ukrainian solder at the front, getting pounded relentlessly by Russian drones and artillery
Your unit is likely at half-strength or lower. You see anti-corruption protests across the country. You see 200K desertion cases, you see Trump distancing the USA from Ukraine, and you see EU queers like Macron and Marxists like Starmer posturing for war, but unwilling and unable to actually do anything to help.
How long before you say “I’ve had enough?”
Oh yeah, because we know that Russia is land of the free. Russians can do anything they want, but Russia is so rich and so moral that they don’t have anything to protest and are too busy counting all their valuable Russian rubles.
Going to war with Russia was a Fools game. NATO and the West needs to learn a good lesson with their encouragement and forever wars.
The EU is a bigger threat to the U.S. than Russia is.

Most never heard of Maidan and the Odessa massacre by the Ukie Nazis…. But Russia ( and others) will never forget.
Ukrainian defections are growing where entire units are being form by Russians to fight snd liberate their country from this little pig and his corrupt cabal.
“Going to war with Russia was a Fools game. “
It has been 80 years since anyone went to war with Russia.

Most never heard of Maidan and the Odessa massacre by the Ukie Nazis”
The Ukrainian city of Odesa was occupied by Romania, an ally of Nazi Germany, from October 1941 to the spring of 1944. Antisemitic policies in Odesa quickly escalated to mass murder. In the first weeks of the occupation, the Romanians murdered tens of thousands of Jews in Odesa and its suburbs. The remaining Jews were then deported from the city. Most were killed elsewhere on Romanian-occupied territory in late 1941 and the first half of 1942.
