POTTAWATOMIE COUNTY, Okla. —
Officials with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday reported they were investigating the killing of a Canadian national at a marijuana grow operation.
Officials said Vongphachanh Philavahn, a Canadian citizen, was found dead at the grow operation, near the 23000 block of East Hill Drive, over the weekend.
Officials said investigators believe Philavahan died in what they called a “targeted robbery,” but there was no indication of “an ongoing threat to the public,” according to a news release.

Flame away.
That alone is fascinating.
Laotians settled Canada, didn’t you know that?
Is it child abuse to name one that kind of name?
Maybe not in their neighborhood.
“Killing reported at Oklahoma marijuana grow operation”
I thought they were into ‘peace and love’ and all that shit. I guess I was wrong.
Shouldn’t the money be stolen when the stuff is sold? People aren’t usually buying at the farm, are they?
The last time I posted (about CA) I was misinformed by my search sources.
“Oklahoma has legalized medical marijuana only. Recreational use of cannabis is not legal. Oklahoma residents with a physician’s recommendation can apply for a medical marijuana patient license.”
What a fine upstanding Canadian name.
Probably stealing the product
maybe
Manitoba Man.
Hmmm... Another word puzzle, or a Canadian Mountie...
So since it’s apparently illegal (unless medicinally approved) then the product could be sold on the crime market with no state taxes on it.
As Steve Martin said in the Jerk:
“Now I get it. Everything everyone around here is doing is for a profit thing. To get money.”
Vongphachanh Philavahn, a Canadian citizen. Huh?
Must have been just passing through since pot farms can only be licensed to Oklahoma citizens. /s
Another one died in his BMW down at my SE corner a few years ago. His “friend” was driving him to hospital and he died enroute. His “friend” called the cops and left via another auto.
I never saw or heard another word about it
Oklahoma behaved stupidly in permitting growing pot for sale anywhere in the world. Oklahoma does lots of stupid things.
In my best Tommy Chong voice “awww maannn, that was last year, man”. 🤣
“Let’s send high paying manufacturing jobs overseas and pivot to growing mind altering weed for our citizens instead.“
Bread and circuses, my FRiend, bread and circuses.
so he was Laotian, not Canadian, right?
I’d love to see the Oklahoma sheriff press conference where he pronounces the guys name. The okie drawl and this name are meant for each other.
And
“Don’t bogart that joint my friend “ has to fit in this somewhere.
