‘CBS Mornings’ co-host Tony Dokoupil rips Jon Stewart, says ‘one-sided’ Stephen Colbert went too left

“CBS Mornings” co-host Tony Dokoupil defended his bosses at the Tiffany Network for axing Stephen Colbert’s show — while also taking aim at Jon Stewart for alleging there was a political motive in making the cost-cutting move.

Dokoupil, who was famously upbraided by management for a tense on-air debate with author Ta-Nehisi Coates over his book critical of Israel, broke with his co‑hosts on Tuesday to blame Colbert’s “one-sided” commentary for his own cancellation.

Dokoupil said on Tuesday that “no one seems to acknowledge” that “the politics has also changed” in recent years and that Colbert “got way more one-sided than anything Johnny Carson was ever doing.”

Tony Dokoupil on occasion is the blind squirrel who finds a nut. He'd actually be a superstar if he did this daily as Gayle offers up tons of opportunities to inject common sense and reality.

” in recent years and that Colbert “got way more one-sided than anything Johnny Carson was ever doing.”

Carson was never political. He made fun of everybody.

If he was funny, he could go as far left as he wants. He's just not funny.

He can take his act to CNN and go head to head against Gutfeld.

Gutfeld was a Never-Trumper in the beginning and he mocks Republicans and DemonicRATS equally.

He does that once every few months, he has potential if he were to keep it up.

He acts and looks like Rachel Maddow, just on a different network and time slot.

On Tuesday’s edition of “CBS Mornings,” co‑host Vladimir Duthiers spotlighted points made in Stewart’s monologue in which he defended “The Late Show,”

Stewart's "monologue" consisted of him screaming "F U Trump" over and over and over. It was the perfect reductive end-stage of the modern late-night comedy monologue. If I was going to create a parody of the current batch of liberal hack late-night hosts, I would have them come out on stage and simply scream "F U Trump" while the trained seals in the audience laughed and clapped. That is literally what is happening now.

I never watch Coal Burt. I can’t stand him. But this week, I’ve been watching the first five minutes of his show to see how worked up he gets and how profane he is. He should be fired immediately for his temper tantrums.

“””He should be fired immediately for his temper tantrums.””

I don’t think he will last long. TDS will put him in the hospital.

In fact, he should have been given a pink slip a long time ago.

CBS, fearing another lawsuit from Trump, will probably end Colbert’s show way before next year.

Johnny Carson? Johnny should never even be mentioned in association to that asshat Colbert.

He’s like an 8yr old crybaby who’s wet his pants... CBS should be embarrassed to keep him on.

Carson was never political. He made fun of everybody.

Exactly correct as did Leno. I do not know Carson's nor Leno's political beliefs. This is good. Their job was to entertain me and not indoctrinate me. They entertained well. My apologizes to Leno, but Carson was the best ever. You were a close second but Johnny is still King. You had an almost impossible task to fill Carson's slot. You did well in the extreme. A close second best to Carson is most magnificent.

PS
After each show Carson and Ed McMahon would sit down and review the show on what went great, good, or bad and how to correct any errors for future shows. They were perfectionists.

Colbert was an avoidable error. The network chose him because of his political beliefs. That was their error and I am glad the lost their ass financially on their choice.

“””The network chose him because of his political beliefs.””
