Last week, we warned of a coming anti-democratic backslide. Now, we see it happening.
A parliamentary vote, led by President Volodymyr Zelensky’s lawmakers, today took away the independence of Ukraine’s key anti-corruption bodies — the National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) and Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO). Zelensky signed it into law the same day.
Under the new law, the prosecutor general, a notoriously non-independent figure, will now oversee anti-corruption investigations — in a complete overturn of the system that was set up to be independent from other law enforcement bodies.
In reality, it means that Zelensky’s office will be able to stop investigations with a phone call.
The move isn’t an isolated incident, but part of a massive crackdown.
The vote in parliament followed an unprecedented wave of raids on dozens of NABU officers’ homes the day before, where pretexts for searches ranged from drug trafficking accusations to car accidents from four years ago. The NABU chief said some searches got violent. A local media outlet reported that officers forced open a NABU detective’s eyes to unlock his phone, set on face recognition.
It also closely follows an escalated prosecution of Ukraine’s best-known anti-corruption activist, an outspoken critic of Zelensky.

These “anti-corruption” groups were started by Soros back in 2014. President Trump told Z to nuke them as payback for their involvement in the Impeachment Hoax. We all knew these Soros groups would do this after their USAID money was cut off.
Let’s me know when President Trump and Secretary Rubio condemn what Z did to these Soros groups.

Sounds like exactly how they wanted to set things up here in the USA... via a totalitarian dictatorship with no accountability that does nothing but thwart the will of the people.... ie the very opposite of “democracy”. What a coinkydence. Especially that the very same ones trying to set that up here in the US were all-in and onboard with full support of Z in Ukraine.
Nothing new, they are known in the financial industry as THE most corrupted, their banking is tied at the hip of their corrupted government leaders.
Their credit is now rated at a “D”, deadbeats, they have a long history of, since 1991, of defaulting on many loans.

Both the anti-Russian and pro-Russian parties in the Ukrainian parliament voted overwhelmingly for the law. A sign the war might be ending soon and they don’t want the Sorosites involved the postwar politics.

Care to provide proof for your claim that Trump directed Zelenskyy to eliminate NABU, or that Soros created NABU?
These recent moves to de-fang the watch dogs go against the reforms needed to join the EU. They are certain to notice.
Rushing this change through at the same time as a big Goverment re-shuffle at the top, may have been an attempt to hide it in the noise.
Among those moved in the Government re-shuffle, was Defense Minister Umerov - A famously “Mr. Clean” anti-corruption figure, proposed as the new Ambassador to the USA. That would get him out of the country, while the former Prime Minister takes over the Ministry of Defense (perhaps the biggest pot of money for potential corruption, of any Ministry in the Government).
It looks really bad. Good chance that they have to back off of this recent change.
