Huckabee stated, "It would be unfortunate if we were forced to publicly disclose that Israel is engaging in harassment and displaying a negative stance toward these groups." He concluded with a pointed warning: "Should this continue, I will have no choice but to consider implementing reciprocal measures against Israeli citizens requesting US visas."

It seems that Israel should have the right to set conditions and limits on how many missionary style groups enter their country.
This seems quite reasonable. Usually, the mission of Evangelicals is ultimately, to convert all around them into becoming believers in this same manner of faith and worship.
America probably does the same thing, or used to until recently.
Seems that Huckabee is beginning to appreciate the reality of Israel’s opinion and feelings regarding Evangelicals who fervently wish to assemble Jews in Israel and prepare them for the Second Coming. It is not quite what he thought it was. The Orthodox who control the balance of power in Israel don’t have the same affection for Evangelicals and their beliefs that Evangelicals have for them.
I think Israel is concerned with groups that come to prostelize Jews. Pastor John Hagee actually agreed not to do so during his mega trips years ago. I am confused on the subject. If prophecy is to have all the Jews returns to Israel, what is the point of trying to convert them over there?
Does anyone really like evangelicals? They don’t like each other. Dude the earf is older than 5000 years…
Do Orthodox Jews really hold the balance of power in Israel? If so, why are major “Pride” events allowed?
if these “evangelical missionary” groups are being disruptive by trying to “convert” Jews to some other religion, i don’t blame the Israelis one little bit ... to me, that would be like having a thousand Jehovah Witnesses pounding on my front door all at once ..
Christians and Christian groups are WELCOMED WITH OPEN ARMS in Israel.
There is a problem with terrorists or spies for terrorist gangs using Christian groups (real ones included but also faked up front organizations claiming to be Christian groups).
Huckabee (and we love him) sounds like he’s been misinformed (and for Heaven’s sakes, whenever he has a question or concern he needs to discuss it diplomatically with the government of Israel right there in Jerusalem — and not go splashing (or threatening krap) in the public media. This is not what diplomats are supposed to do!
Yeah, until you stop and realize the massive support Israel gets from American Christians. They might want to not bite the hand that feeds them.
Without US Christians, Israel would find very little easy support in Congress.
Most evangelical Christians are old earthers (but not theistic evolutionists). It's just the few evangelical leaders who talk about the age of the earth the most tend to be young earthers.
That's definitely true of the creationists that the secularists choose to publicize as examples of "what Christians believe", especially when they set up debates like the one between Bill Nye and Ken Ham. It's basically the secularists using the straw man logical fallacy of painting all Christians as young earthers in hope that we forget that the secularists themselves are the ones with the most unrealistic belief: that everything and everybody came about through a bunch of freak accidents.
I actually don't have a problem with that. Israel is for Jews. Thailand is for Buddhists, Saudi Arabia bans Bibles, China will always protect China's interests, and Koreans don't trust anyone who is not Korean.
this is how the world and nations work, and have always worked. Americans used to think this way too.
Only idiots in the West operate on the notion that a nation's language, culture and religion should be a global "free-for-all." This needs to change radically.
Ya, well
Preterism is just like woke in this one regard
It destroys critical thinking
For example
Preterism = there are no dispensations
Except the old dispensation of Israel being Gods people has ended
.and
the new dispensation of the church being Gods people has begun.
Guess matt has been hanging with tuck Qutaralson too much.
It’s not like they are going to plant a Golden Dome building over there, are they?
I guess if they could, they would
Maybe one is enough

I like Huckabee. His daughter has more class in the tip of her pinkie than other politicians which tells me more about the man than how he just approached this issue. But his going outside of normal State Dept protocol to issue threats to a sovereign nation in the throes of a seven front war and trying to keep its people’s sh*t together reflects badly on his judgment and perhaps the man himself. When in office, Obama declared himself minister of zoning of Jerusalem. Now Huckabee has taken the position of Israel’s internal affairs minister. And let’s not forget both Obama’s and Biden’s attempted color revolution whereby they funneled $855,000,000 to groups and NGO’s to interfere with Israel’s elections and to finance the street protests over judicial reform.
Exactly! Huckabee seems a little presumptuous to be responding in this manner. A country that knows what is good for it, will act in ways that will preserve and prioritize the basic faith and culture of that Host country.
I don’t think many people like atheists either, according to polls. Should they be suppressed as well?
Huckabee has been a shill for Israel for years. Maybe he is beginning to see the true nature of Israel. He thinks that the Jews are the chosen people. But after Crrist’s time on earth there is a new requirement for “Chosen People”. They are those who worship God, worship Christ and, as well, as the Holy Spirit. This was foretold in the Old Testament time and again. Jews didn’t believe then and don’t now.
Feudal Japan did this as well. A lot of martyrs were created. But that was their culture so I guess I can’t complain about it.
“Do Orthodox Jews really hold the balance of power in Israel?”
No, but it’s a parliamentary system with highly fractured parties. Two party systems tend to mush towards the middle, while fractured parliamentary systems yield to the extremes to get a majority.
So they have an outsized voice.
All that said, here is the real issue:
1. It is illegal (for anyone) to proselytize (sp?) to kids under age 18 in Israel to any religion — Jewish, Islam, Christian, whatever. This is mainly targeted at Islam and to get Hasidic kids to go to school.
2. There are all sorts of groups that come in to proselytize in Israel, some quite weird. Islamic, Scientologists, Krishna, Buddihist, Mormon spin offs. Basically every cult in the 1970s wanted Jews for some reason.
So visa restrictions went in, that proselytizers were fine, but they had to come under a normal, recognized, organization, like the Roman Catholic Church, Methodists, whatever.
3. They can’t pretend to be something they are not. Jews for Jesus (and like groups), in particular, were super sneaky and hid what they were doing. (This has gotten better.)
4. Evangelical Churches, largely being pretty new churches and stand-alone, have problems because they aren’t “recognized” like something that’s been around for 1,000 years. The bureaucrats can’t tell the difference between Branch Davidians and some run-of-the-mill Bible Church.
5. People cheat and come in as tourists and really seek to Evangelize instead of registering.
