WASHINGTON — A Biden administration plan to create a “green” fleet of postal vehicles has churned out a mere 250 electric mail trucks in just over two years — after shelling out taxpayer funds meant to build thousands — leaving Republicans raging at the multibillion-dollar “boondoggle.”
The nearly $10 billion project — which called for more than 35,000 battery-powered US Postal Service (USPS) vehicles to be completed by September 2028 — was funded in part by $3 billion in funding from former President Joe Biden’s 2022 Inflation Reduction Act.
As of this month, the project is well behind schedule despite taxpayers forking over $1.7 billion — prompting Capitol Hill Republicans to try to rescind the remaining nearly $1.3 billion earmarked from the IRA.
“Biden’s multi-billion-dollar EV fleet for the USPS is lost in the mail and more than $1 billion is postmarked to order more,” Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) told The Post.
“I am working to cancel the order and return the money to the sender, the American people. The rescissions package is a great start, but Congress must keep its foot on the pedal and make DOGE a lifestyle by stamping out waste like this on a regular basis.”

How are the coast to coast charging stations doing?
Somebody got rich on that deal. They always do on these government contracts that never go anywhere.
They will make cute little homeless shelters.
All that crap along with the California choo-choo are money laundering schemes.
Yeah. Another Solendra. Only with “wheels”.
> Somebody got rich on that deal. <
Yep. In my neck of the woods a city picked a site for a new casino. And it was a perfect site. Easy road access, lots of parking, etc.
Then at the last minute the permit for that site was pulled. The permit was instead given to a site that had congested roads and very little parking. It turned out that the second site was owned by a big-time Democrat.
But maybe I shouldn’t complain. That second site is a real pain to get to. So I don’t bother going there.
No casino visits = lots of money saved.
That’s only 40 million per truck. Pretty good for government work.
$1.7 Billion/250 vehicles = $6.8 Million per vehicle.
Seems like a bargain to save Mother Earth.
Wonder if we can get China to agree with this kind of math.
285000 a copy. You could buy 3 cyber trucks from Tesla for that unit cost of 285k.
So, roughly 40 mil a truck………… no good reason for DOGE! LOL
Joe Biden version of Keynesian economics!!
250 trucks. how many of which are still running?
Funny thing happened in Austin some years back. Austin desperately needed a new airport due to growth. The movers and shakers of Austin bought up much land where they would decide the location, mostly democrats. Then the Air Force sold Bergstrum Air Force Base to Austin for one dollar and this became the New Austin Airport.
Did Joe get his 10% up front?
Good grief. I hope we can dump the waste, fraud and abuse.
Yikes. Isn't that what happened to the bundy's and Harry Reid? He wanted the property, they refused and the rest happened?
Always bad people behind these deals.
Well as long as the BIG GUY got his 10% all is well. /s
How is Biden’s project to electrify our Main Battle Tanks going? Have they figured out how to set up charging stations under Russian drone coverage? Maybe solar panels for camouflage?
