U.S. Monthly Inflation Increases in June
The American Conservative ^ | July 15, 2025 | Joseph Addington

Inflation picked up in June to 2.7 percent, according to the Consumer Price Index report released Tuesday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

This is an increase over May’s annualized inflation rate of 2.4 percent, but still below the inflation rate of 3 percent in January of this year when Donald Trump took office as president. Core inflation, excluding food and energy, increased to 2.9 percent.

Fears that tariffs would significantly raise inflation rates have not yet materialized, although some of June’s increase may be attributable to them.

Higher inflation also makes it less likely that the Federal Reserve will decide to lower interest rates, which Trump has argued should be cut to 1 percent. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell has expressed a lack of interest in accepting the suggestion, stoking speculation that the president may try to replace him with a new appointee more amenable to lowering rates.

As the economy recovers, and Americans return to the workforce, they will purchase more goods.

Unfortunately, Trump’s inflation is a direct result of an improving economy from a disaster of Biden, as well as Biden’s “throwing gold bars off the titanic” economic policy. Keynesian economics will always devalue the currency.

So, it’s down from where it was just before he became president. Nice!

Even WITH tariffs!

I was quite happy to see DJT shoot down a - typical for the idiot media - stupid rumor that JPow’s firing was imminent.

Honestly, I actually share some of DJT’s “too late Powell” complaints — but mostly because I think the Fed was about 6 months too slow to raise rates back in 2021.

Nonetheless, you can compare worldwide central banks and their responses and track worldwide inflation data easily enough, and all things considered? Could be worse. The foreign inflation spikes just came later - and went a lot higher - than in the US. And if you look at GDP performance? They - foreign central banks - got it a lot “more wrong” than the Fed.

Beyond that, it amuses me that so many people seem to think JPow just makes up rate decisions on his own... I mean, the FOMC meeting minutes and votes are public — and the last meeting? It was a unanimous decision to keep rates at the current place across all the regional governors.

...but whatever.
