Colorado AG joins 21 states seeking mask ban for ICE agents

DENVER (KDVR) — Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser has joined a coalition of 21 state attorneys general on Tuesday who are calling on Congress to prohibit federal immigration agents from wearing masks and plainclothes.

About six months after President Donald Trump signed immigration executive orders, the coalition has sent a letter to congressional leaders asking for action. This comes after “alarming reports” of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers are said to be operating without identification, dressed in civilian clothing and using unmarked vehicles.

“In Colorado, we promote responsible and trustworthy law enforcement through transparency and well-trained professionals subject to appropriate oversight,” said Attorney General Weiser. “By contrast, secretive enforcement tactics, other than in exceptional situations, undermine public trust, threaten public safety, and violate the principle that law enforcement officers must be identifiable and accountable to the people they serve. Congress must act now to protect that trust, safeguard public safety, and ensure that all enforcement operations uphold our democratic values.”

The letter also stated that the current practices by ICE not only spreads fear in communities, but also creates public safety risks, which have included impersonations of ICE agents.

The coalition of attorneys general are from the following states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont and Washington.

The coalition noted at the end of the letter that “as a general rule, if the federal authorities are confident that their practices are lawful and just, they should not fear identifying themselves.”

This guy is running for governor. Michael Bennet will beat him. Any Republican candidate doesn't have a chance.

And the abominable Jena Griswold will probably take Weiser's place as attorney general.

Agents are being doxxed by Maoists. That puts them...and their families...at serious risk.

LOL. It's to prevent COVID and other diseases from spreading. I thought these people were all in on face diapers? In fact, almost every riot features perps wearing face diapers and/or black hoodies pulled up to obscure their identity.

It’s time for Republicans to start publishing the information on all DemonRATS on the internet. You’ll have to publish their names also because most of their constituents haven’t got a clue who they are.

Nope. States have no power over federal immigration policy. This is what the SCOTUS ruled when Arizona tried to limit the invasion of millions of illegal aliens during the Biden administration.

Well what’s good for the goose is good for the gander. Suck it Colorado.

The blue states think they can determine the ICE dress code. Lol
Of course we know they aren’t shy about tattling to a friendly district court judge, so there’s that.
If the feds said to them, “People in your state are committing crimes and hiding behind masks ... “ then the squealing begins.

Will the FBI, IRS, and ATF agents be prevented from wearing plain clothes? Will congressmen and their staff be prevented also? DOJ staff? Federal judges?

Dear Mr. Griffin:

You have failed to pay thousands of dollars in federal income tax. Please pay $1,000 no later than....

*****

Law-abiding citizens know that they shouldn’t be arrested, or be asked to pay the IRS money.

This Weisenheimer is right! And to save precious funds, a national citizens movement must take to the streets and rip the masks off of all the Antifa, Intifada, Jihadist Anti-Semites, Marxists etc who are rampaging in our streets. RIP THEM OFF! And photo/ document WHO they are! If we’re going to take the masks off Start There!

Exactly. In the end there is nothing they can do. More political theater. Still going all in on a policy no one cares about. SWAT teams use masks…. Are they terrorists too? 😂
