Putin has just discovered the scale of his latest miscalculation
The Telegraph ^

Posted on 07/14/2025 1:28:01 PM PDT by USA-FRANCE

President Donald Trump has finally lost patience with Vladimir Putin. Having promised a “major” announcement on Russia, Trump has now confirmed that the US will dramatically increase weapons supplies to Europe for use in Ukraine and threatened 100 per cent secondary tariffs on Russia’s trade partners. Trump would only provide Russia with an off-ramp if Putin agreed to a ceasefire in Ukraine within 50 days.

Well, they did let us build all those bio-labs ;

And Putin wanted them.

(I guess now we know why Putin invaded). ;)

“If Ukraine is not a NATO member, and Russia is not a NATO member, then why is NATO even involved? “

Because Putin’s INVASION of Ukraine is the first invasion by one European nation against another European nation since WWII, and MOST nations in Europe are now NATO members, making that invasion right in their back yard and against a democratic state, launched by a dictator.

Again Ukraine is NOT a US ally and has never been a US ally. Its funny how these countries get into wars then all of a sudden demand massive American military/financial support so they can win. Its not how it works.

Is there an official way of declaring a country to be an ally of the U.S. or of Europe?

Unofficially, all countries are allies of the U.s., if they trade or have any kind of mutual relations between them.

we are not allies to most countries in the world, but we get involved when those countries are threatened and/or attacked, whether allies or not.

If official ally-status is demanded before the U.s. can get involved, then China and Russia and Iran and others had better act soon before official ally-status is declared.

the NOT an ally excuse is so dumb.

They should be shunned as pariahs.

“Bravo Trump! I fully approve. Pure common sense.”

I will say Trump’s policy is pretty sound.

However, Trump needs to realize that for most people in the world, they don’t even have $1,000, never mind a $1,000,000,000 or more like Trump has.

A Russian is happy to have a loaf of bread and five ounces of meat, both of which would come from Russia itself.

If in the second half of 2025 and all of 2026, the average Russian can’t get imported stuff, it would matter little, as the average Russian doesn’t even have an SUV to stuff every weekend with Chinese-made stuff from Costco, or a big house to fill with Chinese chattels from Amazon.

Yes.
They have military pacts/agreements in place.
Outside of that, its a no to US tax payer dollars paying for their wars, especially since America has debts of close to $37 Trillion with interest payments of over $1.12 Trillion a year.

Nothing happens in a vacuum. Putin did not invade Latvia or Lithuania. Those are much smaller and easier to conquer. Most Americans are not familiar with the reasons for conflict between Russia and Ukraine. US tax payers are crazy to pad on to fugly high national debt getting involved.

Ukraine is a country. 2nd largest in Europe after Russia. Strategically important. We can’t afford to hold blood grudges against whole countries.

Russia is a pos country but if they get on our side I’ll welcome them.

Besides I support Trump. He read Z the riot act. He gave Putin every courtesy. What’s happening now is a logical result of Russian behavior.

From what I understand, the weapons are being purchased, so we should not be “paying” for anyone’s war and of course we are getting some of their natural resources. I think you have to remember that Trump genuinely wants this war over with as he’s said all along, and as a negotiator he knows that you get the best results if you pressure both sides.

He’s tried being tough on Ukraine, but that wasn’t enough to bring peace. Now he wants to try being tough on Russia to force a peace. It’s just the other side of the same strategy. It is possible that Putin thought the US would just let him take the whole country with no pushback (even though that still would not be easy for him), so maybe he’ll be more willing to negotiate in good faith if he thinks the war will be much harder for him after all.

I think this is a strategy that is worth trying. Trump tried the carrot; now he wants to try the stick. He wants to force Putin to agree to a reasonable peace and have this over with.

“Rheinmetall will hold a 60% stake in the joint venture, and the facilities will be capable of producing up to 10,000 missiles per year. Production is expected to begin between 2026 and 2027.”

“Special emphasis will be placed on long-range missiles”

Vlad, can I have a 30-day ceasefire (while the US, EU and Ukraine boost arms production and Ukraine trains about 50,000 more soldiers)?

Nyet, Don, nyet!

Putin isn’t stupid. He knows the US wants a pause to give them time to produce more missiles and rearm Ukraine. The longer the war goes on the more people die and the more land Ukraine loses. Is Zelensky still kidnapping people off the streets and sending them to the front lines? Ukraine is overdue for an election. I doubt many Ukrainians support this corrupt scumbag.

What a joke. Europe can’t ramp up arms manufacturing overnight any more than we can. As for more sanctions Russia is so used to those they could care less, they have cut back or no longer sell to the west anyway. Don’t forget the U.S. blew up the Nordstream Pipelines so Europe can’t buy cheap natural gas to run their factories or keep warm in winter.

Oh and by the way Russia is the most Christian Nation there, Putin brought back the Russia Orthodox Church to the forefront, what exactly has the West done, it become much more Secular and turned away from God.

You really have not studied the history of the region or know anything about it.

All Trump had to do to end the Ukraine war was cut off all aid and arms sales and it was over, didn’t he say that was what he would in his first 24 Hours?

I am afraid Trump does not walk on water and has feet of clay.

NATO is a bloated out of date organization that cannot field an army or fight. This isn’t 60 or more years ago. This is reality in 2025.

As was the joke in the British TV show “Yes Prime Minister” The NATO armies go home on weekends so any attack on Europe must happen Monday thru Friday.
