Was getting ready to post the same thing. The local councils seem to have their nose firmly in every business decision. How many bathrooms to have, who must be allowed to use them, where people can park, the list goes on and on.

I’ve been watching last season’s Clarkson Farm with interest as he’s attempting to buy a pub. Most of them exist in 400 year old buildings and the village councils are requiring astronomical fees to get them “up to code” and pay the licensing fees for alcohol, restaurant, and butcher shop that he wants to include. I’m talking in the hundreds of thousands of pounds. Then they won’t allow him to park cars anywhere! It’s amazing how they continue to cockblock him from every angle.
