After four decades of conflict with the Turkish state, the outlawed Kurdish PKK has held a ceremony to mark a symbolic first act in laying down its arms...
...Some 40,000 people have been killed since the conflict began, and the PKK is listed as a terror group in Turkey, the US, EU and UK. Its disarmament will be felt not just in Turkey but in Iraq, Syria and Iran...
...The Turkish government launched talks with (imprisoned PKK Leader Abdullah) Ocalan via the pro-Kurdish Dem party, and then in February came his historic appeal for the PKK to disband, read out by two Dem MPs who had just returned from a visit to the prison island...
..."All groups must lay their arms and the PKK must dissolve itself," read Ocalan's letter...
...The PKK followed Ocalan's lead and declared a ceasefire and later declared that it had "completed its historical mission": the Kurdish issue could now "be resolved through democratic politics"."

Thank you very much and God bless you.
"Erdogan's AK Party has begun work on changing the constitution, and there has been speculation that this would mean Erdogan would be able to run for the presidency again when his final term runs out in 2028.
The AKP and pro-Kurdish Dem party deny there is any link between the peace process and reshaping the constitution, but if Erdogan secures Dem support he would have a far greater chance of pushing through changes."
Historic Kurdish ping.
Why would Kurds trust Erdogen?
In general giving up your guns is a bad idea.
Wellllllll giving up your guns is stupid.
Especially when Turks are involved.
They almost genocided the Armenian Christian population and still wont admit it.
But hey… as long as they “feel” good in their symbolic stupidity, thats all that matters…
“Why would Kurds trust Erdogen?”
I am guessing that it is a deal to get Apo (Ocalan) out of jail (likely other PKK leaders as well).
Kurds in Northern Iraq (different political parties from the PKK), have successfully made deals with Erdogan on many issues, notably on exporting oil through Turkey. Those Kurdish groups also used electoral support among Kurds in Turkey, as bargaining chips with Erdogan.
Don’t trust the Turks.
Burning guns never a good thing.
I’m sure that they’re hiding their stockpile somewhere.
I remember several years back when the First Nations in Canada had an armed “rebellion” When it was settled they piled up their rifles and burned them.
Never ever disarm it always ends up a bod idea.
“I’m sure that they’re hiding their stockpile somewhere.”
Old habits die hard.
Kurdish Ping List (Long inactive)
Syria, Turkey, Iran, Iraq
Turks have negotiated an agreement with Kurds to disband PKK and disarm destroying their weapons.
No, I do not believe that Turkey or Syria or Iran should ever be trusted.
I pray that this is possible. As part of the Abraham Accord being finalized.
Thank you for the heads up my friend.
I have been focused elsewhere for the last 8 months. Prior to that for over 3 years my Syrian sources were largely silent.
I pray the Abraham Accord may actually come into reality.
Whatever else, I think the Kurds destroyed guns they don’t need. I’d bet they’re still well-armed.
Why would we trust nearly any kurd leadership acronym
Gangsters and marxists
