Shock waves are still rippling through the country over the NYC Democrat mayoral primary win of “socialist” (really, communist) Muslim radical candidate, Zohran Mamdani. His rise to the top of the party has been fueled in part by his promise to freeze rents in the city. Because, you know, there’s a…
HOUSING CRISIS!!!
In neighboring New Jersey, authorities are in the process of seizing a beloved local farm owned by the same family for 175 years. My colleague Sarah Anderson covered that horror story:
Back in April, Andy received a letter from the Cranbury Township Committee. It stated that if he didn't sell to the town for an "agreeable price," it would use eminent domain to take over the property to build "affordable housing units."
Chris spoke at a Cranbury Township Committee meeting last week, begging them not to take his family's property, but it didn't matter. Officials are going through with their plans to seize the land anyway. They say they will pay a "fair price" for it, but they do not care that the Henry family doesn't want to sell it and have turned down much higher offers than what the town will pay.

Nor is the love of free (or at least, gubmint-subsidized and/or mandated) stuff — and the government's symbiotic will to power — limited to blue states. If you’ve ever been to Miami Beach in bright-red Florida, you’ve seen its famed Art Deco district. Now, imagine those historic works of architectural art torn down to make way for towering high rises — some as tall as 50 stories — packed with high-density apartments. Next, visualize the picturesque waterfront and white-sand beach completely swarmed with so many people — and the cars, dogs and their waste, litter, rats, and other blight that dense populations bring

The same thing that’s behind any other crisis they concoct - scare the useful idiots into supporting what they want to do. In other words it’s about power.
Adverse zoning laws.
Over burdening building codes.
Have greatly increased the cost of housing.
My son in=law who runs is own electrical contracting business.
Says now every outlet has to be a GFI out let cost the home owner many more dollars per out let.
Just of a small example of one code
Answer: Gaslighting.
The only housing/economic crisis is few can even afford even old homes. Wages have been stagnant for decades while inflation in the past 5 years ate them alive....Due to inflation, the young folk, and those on fixed incomes for the most part are screwed.
I wonder what removing a couple million people who aren’t supposed to be here might do to the housing market.
A 10% discount at the local city owned grocery store cooperative, with tins of unknown canned goods and salted carp.
50% of American real estate listing are retracted from the market at the moment. A silent “pop” of the bubble is taking place. Expect the echoes to announce in September.
Banks love illegal aliens.
The more rent control they have, the bigger the housing crisis will be.
NOT BUYING THAT EMMINENT DOMAIN COVERS LOW INCOME HOUSING
Zoning is the new liberal ‘elite’ excuse for housing problems. They lie.
Watch out for their crap - they craft these ideas using focus groups to see how they can con well meaning citizens.
Anything they want is ONLY to benefit themselves and their pet ‘victim groups’.. It’s NEVER for all the American people. The test is: if liberal ‘elites’ like it - look at it closely - it’ll hurt Americans and our country. A New York Times writer put out a book with that idea recently. They hate us nothing good will come of what they say.
If a Democrat has a hangnail it’s a crisis.
Not true, but I know the fantasy makes you “feel” better.
“Officials are going through with their plans to seize the land anyway. They say they will pay a “fair price” for it, “
My first house was seized by the city because some bureaucrat drew a line on a map. The “fair” price was about 50% lower than open market prices and was not enough to get another property in the same city. This was the main start of my absolute hatred for all things government.
We’ve hollowed out our working and lower-middle classes. Earners in those brackets end up paying way too much of their incomes for basic housing. That’s come from our gutting their wages while providing tax incentives for big, expensive houses.
Kick out 40 million illegals here and housing prices will fall, while working people’s wages will increas.
Problem solved.
The goal of Marxism IS the destruction of the middle class/bourgeoise. It is not a bug, it’s a feature of the left. To them there is no problem that needs fixing.
How many real estate transactions have you modeled on real-time, inflation adjusted, opportunity cost bases against the 30-year bond?
You love it that much Chris, I believe you, find a lawyer whose life is dedicated to overturning Kelo, and run your case straight up the flagpole preserving your constitutional issues every step of the way without fail.
You will never get a Supreme Court more ready to overturn Kelo EVER.
