Zohran Mamdani, the 33-year-old socialist and Democratic nominee for mayor of New York City, shocked the political establishment with his primary win last month, including New York City real estate executives, with his radical ideas, like rent freezes and tax plans that single out specific neighborhoods.
Marc Holliday, CEO of SL Green, a New York-based real-estate investment trust, is hosting a fundraiser for Mamdani's opponent, Mayor Eric Adams, at One Madison Avenue, one of his office towers, on Wednesday, according to a Wall Street Journal report.
Holliday invited dozens of New York City's top real-estate executives to the rooftop cocktail event Wednesday, costing $2,000 each, two people who planned to attend shared with The Wall Street Journal.

Na , islam will win
Curtis Sliwa for mayor.
It’ll take more than that. Sliwa and Cumo will have to drop out.
Sliwa will not win
Rent Control is just a sample of the destruction Mami will lay on NYC. He is just a dumb a$$ foreign national who should not be allowed to hold public office.
At this point, you might as well as vote for Zohran Mamdani.
Its sad to say but this might be one of those rare times when the GOP needs to unite behind Adams to save NYC.
Silwa can’t win and splitting the vote will only result in a communist being mayor of NYC.
Sadly, I think you’re correct.
Isn’t rent control theft?
Seems like the radical is doing everything he can to not get elected.
The headline made me think of “The Rent is Too Damn High” guy with the white hair and mutton chop sideburns.
His action to freeze rents will cause the same disaster that happened in New York way back in 1968-1970. Rental property mysteriously went up in flames. I recall a friend of mine from the Bronx area was fed up with South Carolina. He had grown up in the Bronx and kept telling me how great it was to live there. “If you don’t see me next year, it means I moved there.” Well, he showed up at school the next year and I asked him about not going back. “I did go! But I couldn’t believe it. It was like the bombing of Dresden! Tennaments all up and down the Bronx burned to the ground!” He didn’t know that building owners had hired persons to destroy the them since they couldn’t raise rents and were losing money.
Adams is in 4th place and dropping. Out of all of them, he’s the best of a bad bunch. But he’s not going to win.
Republicans should simply stand back and let Mamdani win the race. He will be a constant source of embarrassment to the national Democrats, and he will drive the business community back to the Republicans.
No, but he can siphon votes away from Cuomo and Adams. And that's a good thing because I really want Mamdani to win.
Why?
I have come to the conclusion that Mandami will (and should) win.
IF socialism is great and wonderful and will create a utopia on earth, his election will be a blessing.
IF, as I suspect, socialism is evil and destructive and will turn New York into more of a cesspool than it already is, this will be a blessing...for the rest of America.
We will have a clear example of the impact of socialism on a major American city. This should be sufficient to keep any other city from going down the same path.
