KINGS MOUNTAIN, N.C. (WBTV) - At least eight of the 30 people detained last month by federal immigration officers at a Kings Mountain business have since been charged with federal crimes.
Affidavits were filed on July 1 and July 3 by an agent with Homeland Security Investigations, which operates under the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency, or ICE.
The affidavits brought charges against eight people who were detained on June 25 when federal agents carried out a search warrant at Buckeye Fire Equipment Company in Kings Mountain.
Seven of the people charged, who all appeared to be men, were accused of illegally re-entering the United States …
.
According to federal officials, the search warrant carried out at the Kings Mountain business in June was part of an investigation into alleged identity theft and other possible federal crimes at the company.
According to authorities, federal agents believed that someone, possibly the employer, used fraudulent documents to employ people who aren’t authorized to work in the U.S.
The business, Buckeye Fire Equipment Company, is a fire protection equipment supplier that sells extinguishers, suppression systems, and more.
The Kings Mountain Police Department said it was helping Homeland Security Investigations with the search warrant, and that their role was “limited to addressing any potential state charges that may arise as part of the investigation.”
A family member of the current leadership at Buckeye Fire Equipment Company was sentenced to federal prison for tax evasion in 2018. It was not immediately clear whether that situation was connected with Wednesday’s search warrant.

NO KINGS (mountain)! /s
LOL !!!
I keep hearing about all of these “hardworkin” illegal aliens bustin’ their butts making America go, but I’m not seeing it. So far, all I’m seeing is vacationers wearing T-shirts from all over America and Walmart shoppers mainly in the toy and electronics departments. They don’t by groceries because we pay for all their meals at restaurants. And they are doing it with America Taxpayer dollars.
The hammer needs to start dropping on these businesses. Not only do they harbor aliens and criminals, but they exploit foreigners, evade taxes and break our labor laws. Many passively or actively participate in human smuggling.
Until we go after employment (and public funding) of illegals with harsh penalties, the ICE raids are just half-measures.
Now there's some reporting, right there!
I bet this company sells most of their product to government entities, too.
“charges”. Yeah, right. Talk to me when sentenced to jail.
This is gonna be like “there is no Epstein list”.
BS!
