Liberal critics, such as Keith Olbermann, lashed out at the Times on the social media site X.
The New York Times seems to be in damage control after the paper's story about New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani identifying as Asian and African American on his college application upset some of its readers, leading to an editor from the outlet attempting to clear up the controversy on social media on Friday.
The article claimed that Mamdani, when asked his race on his 2009 college application to Columbia University, checked the boxes for "Asian" but also "Black or African American," in their article published on Thursday.
The Times' assistant managing editor for Standards and Trust, Patrick Healy, put out a lengthy statement on X the following day after receiving "reader feedback" on the article.
"Our reporters obtained information about Mr. Mamdani’s Columbia college application and went to the Mamdani campaign with it. When we hear anything of news value, we try to confirm it through direct sources. Mr. Mamdani confirmed this information in an interview with The Times," he wrote

On Sharptons msnbc show today he had a black mayor as a guest. They determined that President Trump doesn’t like Madmami because Trump hates blacks, especially black mayors. .

Well, he spent several years as a child in Africa so technically he could call himself African-American (side note: there were a number of white South African emigres in my old community; i always advised them to identify as African- Americans on any federal or state paperwork) … but he ain’t no ways black.

Of course the NYT is campaigning against Mamdani.
It's not that he is too far left of the NYT, but NYT is taking orders from the powers behind the curtain of the Democrat Party.
Mamdani will become the poster boy for the Democrat Party.
It will expose EVERY Democrat running for office in 2026 to the question do you agree with Mamdani.
IMHO, Mamdani's election will help the Republican wing of the uniparty and it needs all the help it can get.
