Planned Parenthood has vowed to take the Trump administration to court over a provision in the newly-passed megabill that would “defund” the nonprofit for up to one year.

Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of the organization, said on Thursday the reconciliation bill is an “unlawful” and “targeted attack” on the organization and its patients.

I know some on FR are saying keep politics out of Independence Day, but Trump's bill is like a second Independence Day, by getting rid of all the grift by the NGO's.

Yesterday, saw a lady on tv who had nice hair and suit running a local food bank, and was complaining how Trump's bill would be devastating. Well of course her sucking on the taxpayer teet is gone.

Critics flame away.

I haven’t heard anybody say that, so chat on

I’ve looked and can’t find the answer: does anyone know if the defunding of PBS made it to the final bill?

This is not just an EO, it is a bill about to be signed into law.

Taking this to court is a delaying tactic, as they will surely find a friendly jurisdiction, maybe even one that disregards the recent SCOTUS finding.

In any event, it is about as meaningful as an NHL team down by two goals with 30 seconds left pulling the goalie. It’s something you do, but you don’t really expect it to work.

Yes let them burn up funds on a futile law suit. Less money for them to use killing babies.

They want to disregard the SC, Congress, and the Executive? Sounds like an insurrection.

They’ll be using their excess of our money to fund the lawsuit against us...what a country.

They have a case.

Trump and the congress has no right to defund planned parenthood without the consent and approval of an Obama or Biden appointed Judge.

They’ll sue in Boasberg’s Court, or one just like it. They got funded by Legislation, so how can they not be de-funded by Legislation? It’s their Medicaid $$$$ loss that they’ll challenge.

Don't make the taxpayers fund the murder of little babies.
Let those murderers who are going to Hell pay for it!

Did anyone bother to tell these leeches that grants are an entitlement? The rest they get from medicade. The federal government and the states share the costs of medicaid through a matching program, with the federal government typically paying a larger share. So last year the first $537+ million given to planned parenthood was a direct gift from the feds while each state shares the remaining costs for the year. So almost all of it is a gift.

No private group has a right to taxpayer money. Or to keep getting it.

Exactly, if the money is needed so much then how can they afford to sue?

A judge like Boasberg will rule that it’s a bill of attainder and thus an unconstitutional law.
