Russia pounds Kyiv with largest drone attack of the war — just hours after Trump’s call with Putin

Russia pounded Ukraine with hundreds of drones and missiles on Friday in the largest aerial attack of the three-year war — just hours after President Trump admitted he was “disappointed” with his call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. A total of 539 drones and 11 missiles were fired at Kyiv over a seven-hour onslaught — injuring at least 23 people and damaging scores of buildings across the capital, Ukraine’s Air Force said.

Putin is relentless in his quest to humiliate Trump — just as America’s most evident enemy (Russia) has always thrived on testing the limits of American patience. Yesterday, Trump asked Putin to deescalate and agree to a 30-day ceasefire. Instead, Putin responded with a brazen display of contempt: unleashing the largest drone and missile barrage yet against civilian infrastructure in Ukraine’s capital. It was a deliberate, calculated strike — a direct slap in the face to the White House peace effort, meant to humiliate America on the world stage.

A thumb in Trump’s eye.

Shades of Clinton in Kosovo.

Trump doesn’t want to invest in the war and Putin knows that. He’s not going to get Putin’s attention without surging in arms.
He doesn’t want to lose Ukraine to Putin but he doesn’t want to be involved.
So for now he doesn’t have a successful strategy.
He can keep saying it’s Biden’s war but we live in the present.

Ukraine should move all legitimate targets [weapons factories, military command centers, homes of military leaders, etc.] out of Kiev.

Putin wants the Israel-Iran conflict to end with diplomacy, not force.

Putin wants the Ukraine-Russia conflict to end with force, not diplomacy.

Valid. But also a thought of US recent strike. One ended a bubbling bad scene. One escalates slaughter could be an argument. If the twerking uke is sat down, with an auto pen, things may move forward.

“a 30-day ceasefire”

Why not 31 days?

Why not 60 days?

Why not 30 years?

Has a peace proposal the Russians should logically accept been presented to Russia?

The Russians are not going to ‘bite’ on a short-term ceasefire that allow Ukraine to train more troops and the US to supply Ukraine with more weapons.

All that and not a single death?

Just keep pounding some sense into those Ukes and eventually they figure out they need new leadership.

Legitimate targets, like hospitals, schools, apartment buildings, shopping centers, etc. Stop pretending that the Russians are targeting legitimate military targets. This is just pure terror bombing.

“He’s not going to get Putin’s attention without surging in arms.”

What would you have the US send (that the US and Israel don’t need for their own defense)?

...The Russians are not going to ‘bite’ on a short-term ceasefire that allow Ukraine to train more troops and the US to supply Ukraine with more weapons.

Ukraine and Russia were very close to an agreement to end the war, back in 2022. Unfortunately, the Biden admin and certain European governments reportedly convinced Ukraine to continue the fighting. Both Ukraine and Russia have paid the price for that political maneuver in blood and devastation, and neither side is now likely to accept a treaty today, that was perfectly reasonable 3 years ago. As many people have noted, Joe Biden was consistently wrong on foreign policy throughout his career...

Anything sent at a target in Kiev probably has the target coordinates pre-loaded.

Some of such coordinates might have survived Ukrainian defensive measures.

The illegitimate recovered coordinates might be made public.

Wrong, China is the greatest threat to US but you Russia haters are blinded by your rage.

Ukraine and Russia were very close to an agreement to end the war, back in 2022.

Why are you repeating this lie? They were no where near an agreement. The Russian demands, like today, were just too high.

The jobs of Trump and Hegseth include the duty to create the best military and best weapons in the world.

Putin isn’t going to bet that they will fail. A short-term ceasefire is a risk Putin won’t take.

Putin is well aware that the Reagan military buildup was not able to be matched by the Soviet Union.

Congress just handed Trump and Hegseth $1 trillion to build up American military capability.

Does Rusdia have buses, subways, passenger trains? Should the Ukes start sneaking bombs aboard all three in major Russian cities to kill and maim Russians? Would that “bring the war home” to Putin’s Russia? Would Putin’s Russia “understand” that tactic?
