The fight over the future of the Democratic Party remains center stage in Pennsylvania, where Sen. John Fetterman continues to frustrate progressives while his Democratic colleagues and even potential rivals rally around efforts to blunt the Trump administration’s moves.
Political operatives in both major parties told the Post-Gazette it’s too early to know how a 2028 Senate primary or general election might play out.
But a poll from Susquehanna Polling and Research this past week suggests some Democrats are increasingly disappointed in the senator from Braddock, who remains one of Capitol Hill’s staunchest supporters of Israel, continues to needle his own party on social media, and has supported multiple moves by President Donald Trump just as fellow Democrats — including potential opponents in a few years — have drawn a line in the sand at the White House’s actions.
“He’s contrarian by nature,” said Larry Ceisler, a Pennsylvania public affairs executive and a Democrat.
While Mr. Fetterman’s overall approval rating among more than 700 likely voters was 41%, compared to 37% disapproving, the survey suggested more Republicans approve of him than Democrats — 45% to 40%, according to the poll, which had a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.
Former Rep. Conor Lamb, an attorney who has said he isn’t running for office, and state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta of Philadelphia, the vice chair of the Pennsylvania Democrats, have both been mentioned as potential primary contenders for the U.S. Senate seat.
Mr. Lamb and Mr. Kenyatta came in second and third, respectively, in the 2022 primary won by Mr. Fetterman, and both have been fiercely critical of the Trump administration as the party seeks a winning message with voters.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
As a Senator, Fetterman is probably about equivalent to a RINO, maybe slightly better. In fact, if I had to choose between getting rid of Fetterman or getting rid of Murkowski, I’d choose Murkowski.
The Democrat party of Scoop Jackson and Zell Miller is gone, replaced by idiots and traitors.
If a small group of Dem primary voters nominate a leftist candidate, the seat will be in play. The GOP will need a good nominee, and they’ll take the seat easily.

The Democrat Party stands for one thing: The Democrat Party
About the only time the democrat party wants to dump one of their own is when they actually try to do the right thing. And it’s not as if Fetterman votes conservatively all the time; just occasionally. But evil democrats want no votes for Republicans. Zip. Zero. Nada.
“He’s contrarian by nature” I despise this label junk.
How about this. Fetterman has his own mind and makes his own decisions and isn’t just part of a political machine where everything is controlled, like some orchestra with a conductor.
Good for him.
The smartest Democrat they have is the guy with literal brain damage. Wow. That’s where we are.
If I recall correctly, a few years ago, Lamb was the fair haired boy of the Democrat party. What happened there?
I don't like Murkowski either… she's a total swamp dweller, but she is better than Fetterman who is a hard leftist on 99% of the issues. So he's with Trump on Israel… that's about it. I doubt Murkowski has any ideology to speak of… she just wants the money to keep flowing to her buddies in Washington.
Despite the fog there can be a resultant common sense charity
And more sardonic
My dads astrocytuma which revisited later five years to the month as a megaglioma did that to him
Then it came out that his service consisted of a whole six months riding a desk as a JAG officer in the Club Med location of Okinawa. Mostly prosecuting jagoffs who committed offenses against Japanese civilians and other service members.
Of course, he can still fool a lot of low information voters but not as many as before.
Fetterman is the new Manchin. Always talks a good game but when it comes time to vote, he votes the Democrat Party line.

I would definitely keep Fetterman over Tillis or Cornyn. Thank God Tillis is leaving!
