My wife was talking to a Wallmart employee who was complaining about how the tariffs had caused them to use more local U.S. suppliers for products—as if it were a bad thing...

We have been conditioned for many decades to believe that domestic American products are inferior to foreign IMPORTED products.

It is more difficult to UNLEARN something that it was to learn it in the first place.................

Sorta. I’m old enough to remember when “Made in Japan” on a product was proof the product was cheaply made and was to be avoided. “Made in USA” meant quality.

Maybe some products, but I’ve had Toyotas since my first car. My parents also only owned Toyota. They are just superior cars.

I own a 2007 Tundra with 330,000 miles that runs like a new truck.

Not surprised. Toyota just makes great vehicles. I can’t believe FREEPERS want us to buy inferior American cars. They are clearly out of their minds.

Me too. I'm old enough to remember when them Japs and European brands demolished our domestic autos with imports that beat the socks off of deomestic brands like GM & Ford.

Bought a new Volvo wagon in 1986 and kept that car for 15 years. My family grew up in that car. It was like a tank. Bought a new BMW in 1989 and kept that one for 20 years, and put over 400,000 miles on it, and the heads were never pulled from that engine for any reason.

Toyota operates 12 U.S. assembly plants (and plans for 13 by 2025) —including major facilities in Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, and more.

Popular models made here include the Camry, RAV4, Tundra, Highlander, Tacoma, and Sienna, often with a majority of parts sourced domestically

Approximate Share | Region of Assembly

50 % United States
25 % Canada & Mexico combined
25 % Japan

Ever since they opened the flood gates to Japanese automakers, that image changed quite quickly. Wealthy people bought European cars, average Americans bought Japanese cars. The American automobiles were poor quality and didn’t get good gas mileage. GM and Ford tried to compete with their own small cars and all they could produce were the Vega and Pinto, both doomed to failures...........
