Zohran Mamdani has barely ever held a job, admitted he’s a nepo baby and has no experience in local government, The Post has learned.
New York City Mayor candidate Mamdani – who has lived most of his life in subsidized housing – failed in his attempts to be a rapper, musician and managing previous political campaigns.
An analysis of the 33-year-old’s work history shows he has been employed for only approximately three years in the time between graduating college in 2014 and being elected to the New York State Assembly in 2020.
Behind the shiny social media posts of the progressive upstart there is little substance and no proof of success, critics point out.
“What does this guy know?” said political strategist Hank Sheinkopf. “He’s a make believe character who has no idea how the city works, how to run a jail, how to run a subway system and the biggest sanitation department in the country.
“Who would he even surround himself with? Children like him?”
Uganda-born Mamdani’s resume starts in 2014 after he graduated from Bowdoin College in Maine with a degree in Africana Studies.
He worked as an organizer for advocacy group MoveOn in Seattle four months. They want to create a “inclusive and progressive future,” according to its mission statement, which adds “We envision a world marked by equality, sustainability, justice, and love. “
He then spent two months at TexPIRG, an advocacy group in Texas, according to the New York Times, which cited his old resumes.
In 2015, he worked as music supervisor on “Queen of Katwe,” a Hollywood film about a chess prodigy from a shantytown on the outskirts of Kampala, directed by his mother, Mira Nair, an Oscar-nominated filmmaker.

He’s well-qualified for political office.
“Barely ever had a job” is a badge of honor among the Woke Dems.
He can’t do worse than Adams, I suppose...
He’s got more experience than Biden.
Bet he knows how to burn tires.

That description could really apply to Jacob Frey, the mayor of Minneapolis.
No experience, no facts, all emotion

Many say this guy, Zohran has got his posters slapped up all over the place in that city.
Some NY voters may be looking for anyone other than Cuomo, who has a lot of baggage, still heavy with Covid directives.
Zohran may get the advantage of not being well known.
If he somehow won, his inexperience would not matter, so long as he could deliver good speeches here and there.
The Muslim Brotherhood may end up being the actual “Mayor”.
Similar to Uncle Joe Biden’s train wreck of a presidential term.
AOC actually worked in the private sector. She’s the closest the Democrats have to Trump.
And there's another Independent candidate.
Curtis Sliva is running as a Republican.
Adams might well beat Zohran or Cuomo in November.
He’s perfect — PERFECT — for a sh*thole like NYC. Please, keep him there.
“You don’t mess with the Zohran”
I say Curt’s big mistake is that he insists on wearing his
Red Beret, which is linked, of course to The Guardian Angels.
The Guardian Angels did great social work decades ago, helping to protect the average NY citizen. Their heyday was in the 1980’s.
If Curtis ever wants to be seen as a man of his present time and not simply as a Blast from the distant past, then he needs to slide that red beret off, show the world his bald head, (So what?) communicate with confidence why he could do a good job right now. Stop walking around dressed like your former public persona. You look stuck in the past!
It's like Schwarzenegger running as "The Governator."
Or Reagan always quipping, "Can you win one more for The Gipper?"
African Immigrant = Very good with the automatic Racist Voters.
Rap singer = Good street cred.
Muslim and anti-Jewish creds.
Young = automatic in with the gay and street and populist-Socialist-Communist crowd.
AOC had even less experience.
And people hate Cuomo. This type of NYTimes “advertisement-as-a-news-story” against him won’t work with ANY of those groups above.
That’s true. I’m thinking Curt is content to being seen as a Celebrity figure in his home town area. Becoming a politician usually requires a break with the past, the appearance of being serious of committed to that goal.
May his latest campaign is actually a marketing technique for some other project he has planned. Many who enter political campaigns use them to raise their public profile. I liked Curt as a host on his radio talk show, but that was a long time ago.
In 2019, he made a rap music video featuring Madhu Jaffrey, an icon of Indian cuisine, starring as a tough grandmother.
Except he’s not actually black or African. He’s East Asian.
NYC is definitely going to get the government they deserve.
