AI-driven vehicles stand the chance of being hijacked by terrorists and used to deliver mass casualty attacks without the need for a suicide bomber, a U.N. report warns.

The report, Algorithms and Terrorism: The Malicious Use of Artificial Intelligence for Terrorist Purposes, details ways emerging AI technologies could be weaponised by extremists and was first covered by The Times.

Self-driving cars, drones and other automated systems to target crowded public spaces could all be seized and remotely controlled by terrorists to deliver deadly consequences in crowded public spaces.

“Vehicles, particularly cars, vans and trucks, have long been used in terrorist attacks,” the U.N. Office of Counter-Terrorism warned.

It added: “Reflecting on the extensive history of terrorism and vehicles, increased autonomy in cars could well be an amenable development for terrorist groups, allowing them to effectively carry out one of their most traditional types of attacks remotely, without the need for a follower to sacrifice his or her life or risk being apprehended.”

Obvious.

This will lead to mandatory video surveillance in all vehicles, driverless or conventional.

Must be a slow news day. You can weaponize almost anything if you put your mind to it.

From the very beginning, commenters pointed out that people could send them to the houses of their ex-wife or ex-husband.

Good times.

The weaponized driverless car was a worn out plot of Knight Rider.

KARR vs KITT.

I can see driverless cars being used for some terrorist activity, but not most. That’s because most terrorists want to be there so they can die and get to what they believe is going to be an everlasting Diddy Combs orgy with 72 big boobed, big eyed, virgin angels with hymens that continuously restore.

I would never trust a driverless cab for a lot of reasons.
Now I have another.
Those things should have manual window cranks or whatever they’re called in case the taxi goes rogue. And manual door locks.

One guy makes a shoe bomb and now everyone has to take off their shoes going through the airport. Still minimal security around the back door. Everything has the potential for misuse. The media loves this. Have to stoke fear.

All of that's been known for a while, but it's never too late to remind the would-be terrorists that those 'weapons' are available and ready to be used to assist them with their evil intents.

The weaponized driverless car was a worn out plot of Knight Rider.

The driverless cars also had a 'cameo' appearance in the 'Leave The World Behind' movie. Tesla cars.

Too bad nobody thought of weaponizing driverless cars last week when those rioters were calling in those Waymo cars so they could burn them.

No kidding. Terrorists or AI, and it happens by the hundreds, thousands, millions, all at once.

Perfect for the eco-terrorist. We all stop driving.
