For the third straight day, Israel and Iran traded salvos, with the two sides destroying facilities in both Tehran and Tel Aviv. The war began on Friday, after Israel destroyed nuclear facilities in Tehran and took out the heads of the nuclear program in Iran in order to prevent them from enriching uranium.
Now, The Wall Street Journal's live update reports even harder hits by Israel on Sunday:
Israel’s military said on Sunday it was striking dozens of targets in Iran, the third day of intensive aerial attacks aimed at the country's nuclear program and senior leadership.
An Iranian missile barrage overnight triggered a partial shutdown of a Haifa oil refinery in Israel.
The ebb and flow of strikes in both countries has forced residents to move between home and shelter. In Iran, the government has restricted internet access and warned against pro-Israel social-media posts.
President Trump told ABC News Sunday that Iran is interested in making a deal, one day after saying the Israel-Iran conflict should end.
According to NBC News' latest live updates, Iran is still doing its utmost to destroy Israel:
Iranian missiles directed toward Israel were identified and defensive systems are working to intercept the threat, the IDF said in a statement.
Sirens were heard in Haifa and Tel Aviv around the time the military released the statement. The public was told to enter a protected space and only leave after an explicit directive was issued by authorities.
But Iran has suffered the brunt of damage under the Israeli strategic assaults, with reports that the Israeli air strikes have killed over 400 people, compared to the 14 people killed by the Iranian attacks. Among that number, several top Iranian regime targets have been assassinated.
Mossad wreaking havoc in Tehran right now, say reports.
A spate of at least 5 car bomb assassinations (some reports claim up to 20) have taken out regime targets. Over 15 Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in the last 72-odd hours.

Iranian infrastructure has also been destroyed, with raw sewage flowing through the streets of Tehran.

As my colleague Bonchie reported on Friday:
We also know that this was just the beginning. Shortly before this was published, a second wave of fighters began heading for Iran, and the Israelis have already announced they are in this for the long haul. Much of what we are going to see moving forward will be targeting Iran's ability to retaliate. Most of its air defenses have already been destroyed, and its ballistic missile sites will be a top target. In fact, some have already been hit.
On Saturday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu delivered an update stating clearly that Israel is defending freedom for itself and others. Netanyahu affirmed that Israel had to act decisively in order to stop Iran from developing atomic weapons and selling them to the highest bidder.

Netanyahu promised that Israeli fighters, "will deal blows to the Ayatollah regime that they cannot even imagine. We have indications that senior leaders in Iran are already packing their bags."
This appears to be confirmed by certain X accounts.

In the midst of the relentless carnage and destruction, President Donald Trump said on Sunday that peace will come soon.
Despite evidence that the conflict between Israel and Iran is escalating, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed optimism on Sunday that peace would come soon and cited the possibility that Russia's Vladimir Putin could help.
In a social media post, Trump said there were many unspecified meetings about the issue happening and encouraged the two countries to make a deal. And in an interview with ABC News, he said he was open to Putin, whose forces invaded Ukraine and who has resisted Trump's attempts to broker a ceasefire with Kyiv, serving as a mediator.
Iran and Israel should make a deal, and will make a deal, just like I got India and Pakistan to make, in that case by using TRADE with the United States to bring reason, cohesion, and sanity into the talks with two excellent leaders who were able to quickly make a decision and STOP! Also, during my first term, Serbia and Kosovo were going at it hot and heavy, as they have for many decades, and this long time conflict was ready to break out into WAR. I stopped it (Biden has hurt the longer term prospects with some very stupid decisions, but I will fix it, again!). Another case is Egypt and Ethiopia, and their fight over a massive dam that is having an effect on the magnificent Nile River. There is peace, at least for now, because of my intervention, and it will stay that way! Likewise, we will have PEACE, soon, between Israel and Iran! Many calls and meetings now taking place. I do a lot, and never get credit for anything, but that’s OK, the PEOPLE understand. MAKE THE MIDDLE EAST GREAT AGAIN!
The world is watching and praying that this will be the case. As Iranian leaders are fleeing the country and leaving their people to suffer, pray that the Iranian people can install a new set of leaders who are not bloodthirsty power mongers.
To Iranians
You don't have to love #Israel you have to love yourself, your daughters, your mothers, your wife.
"Rise Against your oppressor the #ayatollah#Iran in the 1970s you were booming! Your ladies were treated with respect and dignity.

We sure do live in Interesting Times
A LOT of stuff that seems Biblical
Of course, YMMV
There's a certain gaslighting which abounds on this topic. Curious. /s
I believe that the Islamist leadership of Iran has a deep religious commitment to build nuclear weapons and use them to destroy Israel and all the Jews. They have a religious justification to lie, cheat and steal in that pursuit. No negotiation will have any effect on their actions.
Israel knows that.
I’m not sure Trump knows that.
Of course Trump knows that. He is continuing to make an offer as an alternative to total annihilation. Call it taking the high road or “good cop, bad cop”, but he is providing context to what Israel is doing, which is wiping the Islamofascist regime off the face of the earth - not out of the same hate the Mullahs have forIsrael, but out of necessity for the sake of its own safety and that of the region and the world.
That should win people over to your POV. Says so right in the Democrat 'how to win friends and influence people' rewrite.
I don’t put much faith in pictures on X or any news outlet anymore, pretty much everything can be manipulated.
There’s a certain gaslighting which abounds on this topic.
This article is absolute garbage, journalistic malpractice at it’s very worst.
The Iranian missile damage to Israel is trivial. There is no valid comparison to the pretty much failed efforts of Iran to penetrate Israel.
Israel has the USA, Jordan, and Saudi Arabia assisting in the air defense. Iran has no defense at at all. Israel is attacking Iranian targets undeterred completely at will.
War keeps Netanyahu in office!
Are you saying that his main motivation for attacking Iran was not to stop their nuclear program but to stay in office?
RE: I’m not sure Trump knows that.
And why would YOU know that and not Trump?
Didn’t say I knew it; I said I believed it.
Well, I believe that your belief on this matter does not comport with reality.
Yep.
I am indeed saying that he seems to believe war will keep him in office. He is wanted by the Hague right now, but as long as Israel is at war they will not vote him out and he knows that.
WDYT?
RE: He is wanted by the Hague right now, but as long as Israel is at war they will not vote him out and he knows that.
The ICC aside, Is destrying Iran’s nuclear infrastructure necessary or not?
If it is, then, if you believe he is a patriot and loves his country, he should do what he should do. Damn the ICC.
