Sen. Lindsey Graham is continuing to push for the US to fully enter Israel’s war against Iran, including potential regime change efforts.
Graham, giddy like a schoolgirl at the prospect of war, made the comments on Sunday’s episode of CBS’s “Face The Nation.”
Host Margaret Brennan began, “The thing with diplomacy is that the Israeli Prime Minister is calling for the Iranian people to rise up against the regime—a regime he says is calling for the destruction of his state. It doesn’t seem like there’s a compromise there. If it’s truly this existential, is this just leading us toward the outcome you say, which is the United States getting involved in military conflict?”
“I would love for the regime to fall. If you don’t—if you want this regime to stay in power—you are wanting people to oppress the Iranian people. You want people to threaten their neighbors, to be the largest—who wants the largest state sponsor of terrorism to stay in place?” Graham replied.
“But regime policy—not the policy of the United States. It’s not the purpose of this attack—yet,” Graham continued.
The career neoconservative politician continued, “If there’s one attack on an American in the Mideast by Iran, then you will get regime change.”
“What are we dealing with? We are dealing with a non-negotiable part of the deal,” he said. “They can’t have a nuclear program that can make a bomb. Diplomacy is preferred, as Dick says. But force may be the only option.”
Graham said that he told President Donald Trump that he needs to “help Israel finish the job” if diplomacy fails.
“I said, if diplomacy fails—Mr. President, President Trump, you have been great—help Israel finish the job,” he stated. “I cannot stress to you how—if you want to get Russia right, you want to make China be better, you want to convince international terrorism we mean business—you have to finish the job with Iran.”
Brennan replied, “We will see if there’s any willingness to negotiate. So far, we haven’t seen much.”
“That’s a big mistake on Iran’s part. If we don’t have negotiations, it’s not because of Trump—it’s because of the Ayatollah,” Graham said.
“You can’t necessarily bomb someone into concessions that they were not willing to make,” Brennan pointed out.
“I don’t think they have any desire to make concessions,” Graham said.
At this point, Democrat Sen. Richard Blumenthal chimed in, “If Iran miscalculates now, it will face the consequences.”
Graham has continued his push to send American troops to war despite facing massive backlash for his inability to hide his glee over Middle East bombings.
Nobody is listening to Linda.
Somehow I am reminded of Michael Corleone telling Tom Hagen that he doesn’t want to kill everyone, just his enemies.
Israel is doing fine on their own.
When youre right twice a day...
“Finish the job” seems to be the concept that is pushed by those who want the US to enter the war. Why does the US have to ‘finish’ what was started by Israel?
Linda is a fool. Direct US involvement has huge repercussions
Linda is a sick person, who gets a thrill up his leg for war.
America has a chronic problem in “finishing the job” since World War II.
It always just manages to get a lot of fine young Americans killed and never “finishes the job.”
The problem is the world is overrun with evil people who breed like rabbits.
Half the world can’t stand the other half.
The USA cannot FIX that.
The face of the Military Industrial shareholder...
Cassandra MacDonald is a huge anti-Semite on X, so grain of salt with anything she publishes. Also, yes Linda is a die-hard warmonger, but her claim: “Graham has continued his push to send American troops to war despite facing massive backlash for his inability to hide his glee over Middle East bombings” is both lousy writing, and untrue. In this same interview, Graham says Trump should provide air fueling support for Israeli planes, and allow Israel to “do what it needs to do,” not to send U.S troops to Iran.
This is why Iran wants a nuke. There’s a reason we can’t “regime change” North Korea.
The neocons are pushing Trump to enter a war that most Americans do not want to enter. Beware of the Gulf of Tonkin.
“Lady Linda Graham”was JAG, a damn lawyer in the army. He knows nothing about the war he is advocating and the consequences of such.
War should be avoided if possible, it is ugly ugly ugly. If our nation is at great risk and war is unavoidable it should be prosecuted in the extreme until the enemy says “I surrender.”
Exactly, rent them a pair of B-2’s for to nights and sell them a dozen of the latest bunker busters. Make them buy the full replacement insurance on the B2’s. Have the CIA create an llc called HURTS to handle the rental.
It wasn’t started by Israel you twit.
L
And big bucks from Boeing.
Israel does NOT I again repeat, does NOT need our military to fight this war..all they want are the bunker bombs they can use the finally get rid of these nuke sites, its the ONLY way, and if we can give it to them they should have it..but NO, Israel has NEVER EVER asked for our military to get involved, PERIOD
I was going to tell the twit the same thing. You beat me to it. 👍
