No one has been able to stop Putin. Only Trump remains, he might be able to. But to stop Putin, one thing is essential: he must lose money. Only then will he be unable to expand his army and military sector.
That’s why sanctions matter: targeting the banking sector, the shadow fleet, and oil prices. Capping the price of Russian energy is critical, because oil is their main source of income. What happens in the Middle East is now driving oil prices up, and that, in turn, affects Europe’s security. That’s why oil price caps are such a powerful tool…….
Sanctions are powerful, when enforced. If loopholes are closed, missile components, including for ballistic systems, simply won’t reach Russia. Sanctions aren’t just about money. They’re about stopping the flow of deadly technology, the parts that enable Russia to produce these horrific weapons at scale.
Right now, the tone of the U.S.–Russia dialogue feels too warm. Let’s be honest: that won’t stop Putin. What’s needed is a shift in tone. Putin must understand clearly: America will stand with Ukraine, including by imposing sanctions and supporting our army.
Any signals of reduced aid, or of treating Ukraine and Russia as equals, are deeply unfair. Russia is the aggressor. They started this war. They do not want to end it.
That’s why the world must send a clear message: if Putin refuses to end the war, the strongest possible sanctions will follow.
I hope Putin takes all of Ukraine. Seems like the best solution at this point.
So done with this war crap. America is a mess and all we do is coddle a bunch of foreign arsehoes.
“Will no one rid us of this troublesome twerp?”
I hope you move to Russia.
Sanctions start wars, history is clear about that….and stealing a nation’s Sovereign wealth fund is theft, clear and simple….and people wonder why no one is buying US’s debt instruments?….weaponizing the USD was a nail in our financial coffin.
Fools.
Who put him in charge of our foreign policy?
Dang he is annoying.
Sir, with all do respect, look up the term “pyrric victory”. You may or may not win in this war of attrition but at what cost?
“I hope Putin takes all of Ukraine. Seems like the best solution at this point.”
Actually the Neocons agree with you, as their WORST CASE outcome is an Internationally-Recognized agreement to end the war, which of course, involves permanently ceding areas of Ukraine to Russia.
With an unrecognized Russian ‘victory’ over most of Ukraine (other than the Nazi-infested far west), the Neocons can, again, have one of their beloved ‘forever wars’ allowing them to continue terrorizing Russia.
Or he takes all of Russia...
Screw Zelensky. Trump has been clear in his actions that he sees the world aligned across 3 major powers, US, China and Russia. India will float between the 3 with good ties to us. This is the way the world has always worked, a few dominant powers with everyone under their spheres of influence. This notion that every country is equal, and we all live in one happy world, is multicultural BS and liberal nonsense. This country has been lost since the Soviet Union crumbled. A defined nemesis is necessary for moral clarity. We could have had that with China, but instead our leaders decided to send all our manufacturing and jobs there.
That picture smells like boiled cabbage.
He won’t be happy until American soldiers are dying for Ukraine, this has been his bleat for years, F’ him, he is a turd.
Z is the one who needs a shift in tone. As Barney the Purple Dinosaur says, “Please and thank you are the magic words.” Notice his children haven’t been conscripted to the front lines.
Oh shut up, grifter.
I am not a fan of either Putin or Zelensky; however, I now have a clear understanding of why Russia hates Zelensky. I bet many Ukrainians hate z as well. The Ukies need new leadership.
