The Camp David Accords was a ‘beginning’. Critics didn’t agree. They’ve held up and the Abraham Accords are a continuance.

The longest journey starts with a single step.
Heard it some where.

Only four replies on this thread.

When we get a post with The White House's side of the BBB, the BBB critiques disappear.

With all those reductions and all that saving going on, why do they want to eliminate the debt ceiling? Only the federal government knows how to reduce spending and increase the debt at the same time.

https://home.treasury.gov/system/files/136/Debt-Limit-Letter-to-Congress-May-9-2025.pdf

On May 9, 2025 Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent wrote to Congress, "A failure to suspend or increase the debt limit would wreak havoc on our financial system and diminish America's security and global leadership position."

The last time the debt was reduced year over year was in 1957 under Eisenhower. The total federal debt first hit $1T in 1982 under Reagan.

https://fiscaldata.treasury.gov/interest-expense-avg-interest-rates/

The interest on the debt for 2024 was $1.13T. The interest year to date for 2025 is $776B.

The debt has increased $17T from 9/30/2015 to 9/30/2024. The trend will not be reversed by a press release from the White House.

The debt to the penny as of 5 Jun 2025 was $36,216,389,414,480.21.
