After a huge fire broke out at SEPTA’s largest bus depot in Nicetown on Thursday, officials have determined a cause for the fire. What we know: A spokesperson for SEPTA stated that the Philadelphia Fire Department said a battery in one of the electric buses set off the massive fire Thursday at their largest bus depot, in Philly’s Nicetown neighborhood.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
I could've told 'em that. How much does this individual get paid for all that brainstorming?
**** PING ****
Hopefully this EV madness will go away until the technology improves enough so EV’s are as safe and economical to buy as conventional gasoline and diesel powered vehicles.
But for some reason the libtards cannot understand the safety factor related to EV’s. Last year at a campgrounds there was this guy riding around on an E-Bike. I mentioned E-Bike batteries are known to self combust and cannot be put out. He replied by saying he had a safe battery.
And leftists want us to give up cars and depend on public transportation.
No.
I wonder how much this charlie foxtrot will cost taxpayers...
I knew someone who became a supervisor at SEPTA. They promoted him because he knew all of the ways to disable his bus so he didn’t have to drive his route.
Those buses had already been decommissioned??
The cause was a shortage of cash and an excess of busses at SEPTA.
We had a two alarm blaze that took a house out in minutes and heavily damaged a neighboring structure - an EBike battery charging inside was the cause. They are extremely dangerous!
If I were insuring car carrier ships, my rates would be very high!
The more vehicles crammed in together and the larger the amount of rocking and rolling, the higher the chances for a fire.
Of course, this was a different situation...one bus battery died of spontaneous combustion while parked, but I believe that’s more likely in older units (dendrite growth, or whatever the failure mode is).
Great news! This means lots more overtime pay for the boys at TWU local 234
The media is in the same situation with EVs as they were when Air Bags first came out. The Leftists BADLY wanted both, so the downsides (fires in the case of EV, infant decapitations in the case of air bags), so they KEPT THINGS QUIET, and they won-out with air bags, we’ll see with EVs.
“SEPTA says a battery on one of the electric buses sparked the huge blaze at the SEPTA bus depot in Nicetown.”
Actually one of the BATTERY CELLS on one of the electric buses, caused the fire - and the cells are a bit smaller than Size D.
Maybe they won't be so quick to spend the horrendous amount of money for the Electric buses.
“I could’ve told ‘em that. How much does this individual get paid for all that brainstorming?”
If, for no other reason, they were trying to take care of their spent buses, and for diesel buses, they would have EMPTIED THE FUEL. Cannot do that with a Lithium Ion.
“But for some reason the libtards cannot understand...”
Still not there yet, ehhh. The Leftists FULLY UNDERSTAND what they are imposing on us. What our side needs to learn to do in understand what their REAL INTENTIONS are. Once we get to that level, we’ll FINALLY be capable of fighting them.
Fortunately these were old busses that went up in smoke...not used in years. So they claim>>>
Investigators said the fire reached 3-alarms and torched about 40 buses, many that haven’t been used in years, including former electric buses.
SEPTA General Manager Scott Sauer said the lot is used to store 100 buses that have been or are in the process of being decommissioned. He provided some insight into the decommission process, saying the buses’ batteries are disconnected, and the mechanical fluid is drained.
“Those buses had already been decommissioned?”
They were battery powered buses, they never had a chance.
