Stolen valor? Veterans dispute Cory Mills’ record: 'He fooled a lot of us'
The Blaze ^ | May 20, 2025 | Peter Gietl, Jill Savage and Joseph M. Hannema

'He has a monstrous gift of bulls**t,' former colleague says.

Republican Rep. Cory Mills of Florida built his political career with stories of heroism in the U.S. Army and as a private military operative, but several former colleagues say he exaggerated or lied about being “blown up” twice in Iraq, being an Army Ranger, training as an 18 Delta Special Forces Medical Sergeant, being a military-trained sniper, and saving the lives of two soldiers wounded by enemy fire. They also allege he walked away from his post in Iraq when his employer asked him to verify his service record.

As much time and energy as Mills has spent promoting his history, he’s now running from some of the details as the men he served with and the media are increasingly questioning his record, his personal life — and his truthfulness.

Apparently Mills married his Iraqi-born wife in a mosque that has a reputation of being radical. Mills denies that he’s a Muslim.

Shoot, I remember when I and Joe Biden took our F-16I Sufa into Iraq, going after the Osirak Nuclear Reactor in 1981.

Iron Bones Joe put the laser on the target and released 2 Paveways while I was dodging AAA and SAMs.

We got hit, though and had to bail out. They actually treated me pretty well, but Iron Bones Joe, well, they ate him that night for dinner. We saved some of his DNA with a hair sample and we rebuilt him in a laboratory when we got back.

Anyways, it’s all true and anybody who doesn’t believe it is a Lying Dog-Faced Pony Soldier.

Lying about serving and deriving benefits from never serving a day? Yes that’s stolen valor. Having actually served and lying about the action you’ve seen to stoke your ego and make others impressed? No stolen valor just a scum bag S-shop pogue. There are many that do this.

Thanks for making that distinction, which I’d never thought of. Kerry appears to fall into the second category rather than the first.

And thanks for your service—I trust that your screen name is meant to point to two hitches?

Was watching the History Channel last night on Prime about U. S. Grant.

These liberal bastards serving in Congress have no clue to the men and who have served. Grant in particular I get Crockett, AOC, et al don’t know who he is.

He marries a girl from a slave owner father. Grants family are abolitionists and refuse to attend the wedding. A slave is given to the wife, so I indirectly Grant is a slave owner and he works the fields with him.

In time, when he’s dirt poor, he frees his slave.

Later joins the war. In the Western Theater.

He had been to West Point with all of them before.

3 part series . Free with prime. The civil war reinactments are great.

Then he’s elected president. Amazing American.

Yep, from all of those HALO jumps he made, going into enemy territory alone (& against orders) to rescue captured pilots. What would we have done without Joe - afraid to even think about it!

I never felt safer than when Iron Bones Joe Biden was my back-seater

Sure hated it when they ate him for supper (it wasn’t dinnertime actually)

But, we had the technology - we could rebuild him

We had to do it after his space shuttle crash one time earlier

I don't see how that POS keeps being reelected. It's not like his stolen valor is a secret amongst the electorate.

In one of the service magazines, probably the American Legion one, there was a person looking for anyone that served in a certain area of Vietnam with Radio Research, which was a cover name for Army Security Agency (NSA) operations. As a Radio Research vet that served in that area, I responded.

The researcher making the inquiry was doing so on behalf of a deceased veteran’s widow. His 4 year service record had him having an amount of training equal to a 20 year veteran that would have taken up well over two years to accomplish. His training included Ranger special ops training in Panama. His awards were also equal to a 20 year vet.

Then he had a citation from the South Vietnamese government awarding him the Vietnam Cross Of Gallantry signed by the South Vietnamese President for heroism while conducting a human intelligence operation.

I reviewed the documents and discovered at the bottom of this citation “Military Commemorative Certificate - Not An Official Document”. This pretty much proved the deceased person was a stolen valor bullshitter.

He apparently went through life boasting he was a super spy in Vietnam and used false documents to prove it. I suspect this was quite a let down for his poor widow, knowing her husband was a liar.

When he went to register the ‘slave’ his father in law had given him as a free man folks offered to buy him. Everyone thought he was crazy because he was dirt poor and turned down offers to buy his slave rather than set him free. Grant refused to sell him and paid the fee to make him a free man. But all history remembers about US Grant is that he was a drunk.

I’ve got a great Polaroid of us inverted with a MiG-28 in a 4G dive....and the MiG-28 is real, too.

It only looks like a black F-5 or T-38

Wasn't it after that first rebuild, that Joe won the Olympics (every single event)? He had to put on a dress and identify as a female to win the women's events, of course, but that worked out ok. And it really underscored his modesty - even though he won everything, he would only accept a single medal (20 times larger than normal, with his smiling face on it, in honor of his accomplishment). But I heard that actually saved the Olympic committee a bunch of money! What a guy!
