Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man at the center of a bitter, months-long political and legal fight after he was mistakenly deported to El Salvador, has been returned to the United States to face criminal charges, according to an indictment announced Friday.
U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi announced his return and the indictment at a press conference at the Department of Justice.
"This is what American justice looks like," Bondi said.
She thanked Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele for agreeing to send Abrego Garcia back
In recorded calls, reports of overcrowding and lack of food at ICE detention centers Bondi told reporters that a federal grand jury indicted Abrego Garcia on May 21 in Tennessee over allegations he conspired to transport thousands of migrants without legal status from Texas across the U.S. between 2016-2025. The two-count indictment accuses Abrego Garcia "of conspiracy to unlawfully transport illegal aliens for financial gain" and "unlawful transportation of illegal aliens for financial gain."
Bondi says Abrego Garcia will face trial in the U.S. on these charges and, if found guilty, will serve time in a U.S. prison before being deported back to El Salvador.
Abrego Garcia's attorney said they're going to keep fighting to get him a fair trial. "Now, after months of delay and secrecy, they're bringing him back, not to correct their error but to prosecute him. This shows that they were playing games with the court all along," Abrego Garcia's lawyer, Simon Sandoval-Moshenberg, told NPR. "Due process means the chance to defend yourself before you're punished, not after. This is an abuse of power, not justice."

“the Maryland man”
Whoever put out the story that he was “wrongfully” deported really needs to face some sort of justice. That intentional misrepresentation of the deportation has caused so much turmoil.
However, seeing that he is back for trial does give a little sense of schadenfreude for all of the leftists who were screaming for his return and now get to see him facing prison time in the US for his illegal activities.
The story seems to imply that if Garcia is not found guilty, he’ll be deported right back.

Seems the only solution is for God to reboot the planet. But given the continued misery and lack of man’s ability to control the planet, I’m guessing we’re going to suffer more. And it may get way uglier than it is now. Maybe Putin will launch nukes, and man will end up “rebooting” the planet themselves.
Great. Let him stay w van Holland and his family. Be sure to have his daughters and grandkids stay there too. Just so Garcia can molest and rape them before he has to go to court.
What would you expect from something named “Ximenao Bustillo”?
Does NPR mean “Nicaraguan Peon Radio” in this case?
So says “Bustillo”
What a waste of taxpayer dollars, and this is just the beginning.
Stephan Miller said some POS at the DOJ threw out the “wrongfully deported” to sabatoge. I hope he/she was fired.
Chris van Hollen’s favorite a$$ wiper is back.
‘ Seems the only solution is for God to reboot the planet. But given the continued misery and lack of man’s ability to control the planet, I’m guessing we’re going to suffer more’
Sounds like this is all god’s fault then.
Like Lee Harvey Oswald “failing to properly register a firearm?”
LOL
yep, fake news media always has to insert their little BS in every article.
No. You don’t want mankind to take the blame?
It’s a Marxian outlook to imply that man has no free will. Opus?
So says the authority of NPR.
He’s just your friendly neighborhood human trafficker. The political ads for the next few years are writing themselves.
‘ No. You don’t want mankind to take the blame?’
Of course we’re to blame. It’s always been us to blame.
Saying god can correct it but chooses not to is what’s a bunch of bs.
Hopefully, the “Maryland Man” Will be tried in my home State of Tennessee,
where he was caught under the suspicion of Human Smuggling.
