A court ruling on Monday in Britain, if it is allowed to stand, could do nothing less than change the course of that country’s history, and that of the entire world. The U.K. has taken a decisive step away from the principles of free speech that it played a dominant role in formulating and giving to the world. There is serious cause for doubt now about whether the Sceptered Isle will even survive as a free society.
Officially, Hamit Coskun was found guilty of a “religiously aggravated public order offence.” His specific crime, however, was that he publicly burned a copy of the Qur’an, the Islamic holy book.
It is not a crime to burn the Qur’an or any book in Britain; Coskun wasn’t convicted of burning the book as such, but of disturbing the public order by doing so. That means that he poses a problem for British law not insofar as he burned a book, which is permitted, but because in doing so he opened the door to public disturbances, which is not permitted. In other words, Hamit Coskun was convicted of a crime because Muslims might have rioted or committed jihad terror attacks over his actions.
In convicting Coskun, the U.K. has thus enshrined the heckler’s veto as part of British law. If he had burned a Bible, no one would have cared, and there would have been no possible disturbance to the “public order.” The threat of jihad violence is now guiding the course of British law and infringing upon the freedom of speech. The British government has now compounded the prospect of some Muslims reacting violently to the burning of the Qur’an by making it clear that whether they do or not, the culprit will have to face the wrath of the British state.

Dhimmi
Heartbreaking to see that once great nation allow itself to be destroyed like this.
Yesterday in a small town in Wisconsin I heard this shouting while driving down main street. “What kind of noise is that?” And as I passed by the town’s center square, there under the band shell somebody in a white robe and a bard was shouting up a storm with a microphone.

What was he saying?
> disturbing the public order <
That’s a pretty clever offense, from a fascist government point of view.
Here in the United States we have the disorderly conduct charge. And most people have a good idea what the word “disorderly” means.
But “disturbing the public order”? What does that mean? It means whatever the UK Gestapo wants it to mean.
Britain committed cultural suicide sixty years ago. The death has been neither painless nor quick.
Good God, I must learn Arabic to combat this?
We already knew that the UK had established sharia as the law of the land. This confirms that observation.
The Brits are finding out who rules over them.
Looks like the UK got themselves into this mess with Islam that they are in. What do nations around them think of this situation? Will the UK ever be able to extricate themselves from this? I can’t believe that the general populace there is in agreement with all this.
We need to step away from NATO because the other members are enemies of freedom.
Churchill was wrong, Hitler won the Battle of Britain.
Well, it is an island nation....Contain the mess.
But “disturbing the public order”? What does that mean?

Those other nations think it’s just swell. Ireland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc. - they are all importing Muslims.
You’d have to travel to eastern Europe before you’d see any push-back. Hungary, for example, has a VERY effective border fence. And that’s why there are no terrorist attacks in Hungary.
