I've heard many advocates of politically correct thought police and the liberal nanny state use the term "verbal assault" to mean any statement they find offensive, i.e. anything that they disagree with. It came from the same brilliant minds that gave us "microaggression" and "safe spaces".

Reminds me of a comedian I saw perform live about 30 years ago. He started out joking about his own group. Everyone laughed. He then moved on to skewer every other group. You already laughed at his group, so now you can’t complain when he gets to yours. His act was clean, and we all had a great time laughing at ourselves and each other.

What has the world come to that someone has been sentenced to prison for that?!
