Putin feels he must respond to Ukraine's drone attacks, Trump warns

US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he had a "good conversation" with Russian President Vladimir Putin, in a call about Ukraine's recent drone attack and Iran.

Following Ukraine's major drone attack deep on air bases inside Russia, Trump reported that Putin told him Russia "will have to respond".

Trump also warned in a social media post that the phone call, which lasted more than an hour, would not "lead to immediate Peace".

The two leaders also discussed Iran, and Putin suggested he could help with nuclear talks with the country.

The conversation between the two leaders marks the first since Ukraine launched an audacious attack striking Russian air bases on 1 June, targeting nuclear-capable long-range bombers.

In his post, Trump said that Putin told him - "very strongly" - that he "will have to respond to recent attacks on the airfields."

Last week, Trump appeared to set a two-week deadline for Putin, threatening to change how the US is responding to Russia if he believed Putin was still "tapping" him along on peace efforts in Ukraine.

The comment was one of a string of public critical remarks by Trump, who earlier had said that Putin had gone "absolutely crazy" and is "playing with fire" when Russia intensified drone and missile attacks on targets in Ukraine.

Trump made no mention of a deadline or his previous remarks in Wednesday's post on his Truth Social platform.

The post also comes just days after a second round of direct peace talks between the warring sides, held in Istanbul, ended without a major breakthrough, although the two sides agreed to swap more prisoners of war.

Ukrainian negotiators said Russia rejected an "unconditional ceasefire" - a key demand of Kyiv and its Western allies including the US.

The Russian team said they'd proposed multi-day...

Those bombers that the CIA/MI6 destroyed in a Uraine false-flag operation are part of the MAD agreement. By treaty, they have to be observable from the air, and periodic inspections are required. Destroying them was a treaty violation.

This was a deliberate CIA/NATO action to limit Russia’s response selection. They want to force them into using nukes so they can claim Russia started the nuclear war we are inches away from.

Meanwhile, the empty-headed Zelensky groupies are jumping up and down on the sidelines in their cute little cheerleader outfits, waving their pom-poms and rooting for their team in the WW III wargames.

Uhhh....

For the last 3+ years, Ukraine has experienced the utter flattening of Ukrainian cities in the East, and near-constant drone attacks on not just military targets, but more frequently - civilian targets, from power plants, to shopping malls, schools, and civilian busses and apartments.

Ukraine spends a year planing and carrying out a shocking drone attack (ironically launched from INSIDE Russia) on distinctly military targets - against the very aircraft used daily to bombard Ukraine with missiles and bombs...

And Putin demands retaliation? And Trump finds this in some way... humorous or justified? What the heck?

If DJT were even consistent... he would use this as a reminder of why he wants the war ended. But DJT can’t seem to be consistent, and his instability is growing more troubling every day.

I don’t care who you support in this conflict, it’s pretty damn funny to see Putin acting like some kind of victim here. “I really have to respond” after he invaded Ukraine in 2022. LOL.

How, exactly, do you see this as a “treaty violation”? Ukraine isn’t a signatory of that treaty. Those aircraft have been a primary delivery platform for the last 3 years of bombing and missile attacks on Ukraine. They are by ANY standard, a legitimate, military target.

The US did not aid in this attack, not even in targeting or information.

Your tinfoil hat is rather askew on your head.

I'd imagine Ukraine's latest attack has pretty much reset the counter on any deadline - Ukraine certainly did not act like a nation ready for peace discussions, and they'll need to take whatever Russia delivers up in the way of retaliation.

Yeah, what the heck...made you think that, considering nothing whatsoever that Trump wrote indicated he found it humorous or justified. He literally just reported what Putin said to him.

What did he say that was remotely humorous? He simply reported what Putin was telling him.
