Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials announced that a man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a civilian and a police officer from Baldwin Park dead.
The man, described by deputies as “the person believed to have shot and murdered a male adult then shot and murdered a Baldwin Park police officer,” was detained on Saturday – the night of the shooting – LASD said Tuesday.
He was identified as 22-year-old Eduardo Roberto Medina-Berumen.
Medina-Berumen has been booked on suspicion of two counts of murder, LASD said, and he remains hospitalized in stable condition Tuesday. Upon being discharged, he will be transferred to a jail facility.

Hey, the perp was in America to improve his life and that of his family. Have some sensitivity!
Civilian?
Illegal?
Article with comments about accused from people who know him.
Anchor baby?
When you kill a cop you almost always go tom the hospital before jail, if not the morgue. One night my engine was called to stand by at a scene where the swat guys were gonna raid a gang members house who had shot a cop. We were just to the side of the front door maybe 10 ft away. They busted in, no shooting, just a bunch yelling and banging and glass breaking for like 5 minutes. Then they drug him out and he looked like he had been in a MMA fight and lost.
It's not like the courts are going to discipline him...
Native Kentuckian.
Cops are civilians, they aren’t soldiers and they have no business thinking of us as civilians and themselves as military, this writer should not contribute to that dangerous nonsense.
Yeah, I caught that. That’s the second time in a couple of days that I’ve seen ‘civilian’ used. Are we become programmed again?
It should say “citizen,” NOT “civilian.”
Thank God law-and-order Nathan Hochman is the DA of Los Angeles now instead of ousted former DA, criminal-loving George Gascon.
Under Gascon, bail would have either been set far lower or the killer released on “no cash bail” until “all the facts are straightened out” - giving him time to flee to Mexico.
The deceased might not hvve been a citizen.
I knew a young guy back in the mid 90s that was on the police force. He commonly referred to “us” as civilians. Seemed put off when I questioned him about it. So it’s nothing new.
They should have called him an “illegal” if that is the case.
“The word “civilian” has been in use to refer to the general public, distinct from military or law enforcement personnel, since at least the late 14th century. While its use might not be universally common or ingrained within all police departments, the concept of a non-law enforcement individual has been recognized for a long time. “
Don’t use it, in common usage civilians are everybody from housewife to cop, and the military is not civilian, we vets are also civilians now and don’t want some fat lesbian cop who lives in the apartment next to us calling us civilians as though we are something like sheep while she is some sort of warrior overlooking us and separate from us.
