Ukrainian special forces operatives launched simultaneous attacks on four Russian strategic bomber bases and the home port of the Russian Northern Fleet early Sunday. The attack was reportedly a year-and-a-half in the making and involved a novel means of delivery and the first use of autonomous drone swarms.

This is what we know as of this writing.

The targets were:

What a mess.

This will not be resolved in Turkey.

Not sure how this will affect NATO.

Ukrainian war journalist Yuri Butusov has summarized the details of the operation “Spiderweb” against Russian airbases:

- At the moment, according to our sources, the destruction of 41 aircrafts of strategic and military transport aviation of the Russian Armed Forces at four bases has been recorded.

- Some of the drones attacked the target with auto-homing, the results of their strikes will be determined using satellite images.

- A group of SBU agents transported 150 small attack drones and 300 ammunition to the territory of the Russian Federation. 116 drones took to the air.

- The drones were controlled via Russian telecommunications networks, using auto-homing.

- Drones attacked from a short distance during the day in the deep rear of the enemy.

- The air bases were covered by significant air defense forces - anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare systems, regular patrols with small arms. But the Russians expected night strikes by heavy large strike drones, which are clearly visible in the air, and did not expect an attack by small quadcopters during the day.

- The attack on the Tu-95 strategic missile carrier base at the Olenya base was especially successful, the drones accurately hit the refueled fuel tanks and a significant number of aircraft burned to the ground. An operation of such a scale and with such a colossal economic and military effect, at such a high technological level, has no analogues in the world.

- SBU agents successfully returned to Ukraine. Ukraine did not suffer any losses.

Consequences:

- Military equipment worth billions of dollars was destroyed

- Strategic aircrafts which Russia does not produce were destroyed.

- the enemy’s strike capabilities are weakened, since these aircraft were an important component of constant terrorist attacks on Ukrainian cities.

- the enemy will have to spend a lot of money to strengthen the defense of its bases and facilities.

The US has been collaborating with Israel with the Iron Beam Laser Program, which is capable of knocking down drone swarms at a fraction of the cost. Israel has successfully tested it against Houthi and Hezbollah drones, so if the US can implement it as well, it will be set apart from its adversaries. Of course, the UN is concerned that it gives the US too much of an advantage, even though it is strickly a defensive weapon.

The important part?

What will Russia respond with?

The USA is trapped by EU members of NATO. We want no part of this war. Germany and France do, or think they do.

Remember the prior 2 wars they drug the USA into?

This one was un-necessary.

I despise Zelenski. And blame him for huge destruction of this nation.

I'll bet they weren't expecting the Spanish Inquisition either.

A wonderful account of Ukrainian victory, with Russian air defense failure. Putin is left with egg on his face.

The only way to stop the war might be to sanction both Ukraine and Russia to the hilt. Neither side is interested in ending the conflict. Starve both countries’ war making abilities. In the case of Russia you do it with the price of oil. With Ukraine, you cut them off from any U.S. aid and you sanction any other country that supplies them with military assistance. Easier said than done, I get it. But in principle it makes the most sense. Neither country is even remotely our friend. But we do have a strategic interest in seeing the war end in an approximate stalemate.

That was not discussed, possible the drone threat.

Other wise defiance of the USA in NATO.

What about our spooks who have been behind this for years?

The Ukrainians never suffer any losses.

Until the end of the war, when the true numbers will be revealed.

"- the enemy will have to spend a lot of money to strengthen the defense of its bases and facilities."

Russia just lost a third of its strategic missile carriers.
That is a significant reduction in what needs defending.
😉🤣

Don’t hold your breath. Turkey is very pro Russia.

And at the same time still in NATO.

This won’t end on Tuesday.

How many SU95’s do you think Russia has? I imagine it’s a similar number to our B52s and B2 fleet. And that is not many.

Blow up a dozen of them and that would cut out a good chunk of their useable fleet.

**The targets were:
Belaya Air Base in the Irkutsk Region**

Check it out on the map. It’s far away. Putin musta put them there for their safety. I joined the AF figuring the planes would be safer than the infantry.
