Trump’s vision: One world, three powers?
SanJuan Daily Star ^ | 5/27/25 | Edward Wong

For President Donald Trump, anytime is a good time for dealmaking, but never more so than now with the leaders of China and Russia.

Last Monday, Trump said he wanted to normalize commerce with Russia, appearing to lessen the pressure on Moscow to settle its war with Ukraine. And he is trying to limit the fallout from his own global trade war by urging China’s leader to call him.

“We all want to make deals,” Trump said in a recent interview with Time magazine. “But I am this giant store. It’s a giant, beautiful store, and everybody wants to go shopping there.”

Trump may have something even bigger in mind involving Russia and China, and it would be the ultimate deal.

His actions and statements suggest he might be envisioning a world in which each of the three so-called great powers — the United States, China and Russia — dominates its part of the globe, some foreign policy analysts say.

It would be a throwback to a 19th-century style of imperial rule.

Trump has said he wants to take Greenland from Denmark, annex Canada and reestablish U.S. control of the Panama Canal. Those bids to extend U.S. dominance in the Western Hemisphere are the clearest signs yet of his desire to create a sphere of influence in the nation’s backyard.

This is just common sense. Once the ridiculous Project Ukraine misadventure is over and Xi has swallowed his reciprocal trade bitter pill, this is possible.

I posted a vanity about a potential “Big Three, 2.0” back around Inauguration Day. These three men are the senior diplomats of the world. I believe they all have a strong sense of history as well. Some accommodation must be made. The coming arms race and assured nuclear proliferation will ensure it.

Trump’s vision: One world, three powers?

That's my vision, too.

I'm getting exactly what I voted for, and I couldn't be more pleased.

But, Russia isn’t. Mother Russia is but a decrepit crone with a cupboard that is bare

The emir of the TAE and the king of Saudi Arabia are the future.

Isn’t this the way it has been in, like, forever?
We are NOT the world’s police. We are NOT “nation builders”.
Our interest is HERE.

Rumor has it that the Russian Ukraine proposal to be be submitted tomorrow will contain stipulations about non NATO Moldova, Georgia and Armenia.

Whatever you think of the theory — which seems like a counterweight to ‘1984’ as three meganations at peace rather than eternally at war — it seems somewhat simplistic.

Perhaps realistic, given the ‘other side’ isn’t Russia but the globalists/EUrocrats who want Russia gone so they can create a 2030 in which everything sucks and there’s no better alternative.

I have a hard time envisioning a “Big Three” including a autocratic PRC that breaks its promises with everyone. You can’t make peace or anything else with an entity that stabs you the second its hand finishes shaking on a deal. They could change, but it would require that Xi understand that there are consequences that persist beyond 2028.

It’s not common sense. Russia buys bugger all from America, and Russia is not even in the top twenty trading nations of the modern world. They’re still behind Ireland, Switzerland and Belgium by objective measures. Russia looks even more like a busted flush if you consider its sheer size.

Trump’s obsession with Russia as if it is a great power, like his taste of hotel decor, stuck in the eighties. Russia is a bum state.

Hardly. Russia is greatest military power in the world, bar none. Our carrier fleet would conventionally disappear the first day of an actual Russian war. NATO has proven to be a farce. Our trillions in weapons are garbage. The two things that have kept the Ukes in this war DESPITE NATO tactics and garbage weapons are cheep Chicom drones and the incredible bravery and fighting spirit of the Uke infantryman.

Diplomatically Russia and China own the Global South. Ever hear of BRICS?

Oh yeah, along with having the more natural resources than us the Russians have a national debt $288 billion!

It’s called spheres of influence and balance of power. I remember Condoleezza Rice as SOS for GWB making the statement that we don’t recognize spheres of influence. It’s like saying you don’t recognize the gravity of black holes. It’s pretty nearly a law of physics. Proximity increases interest and influence and the idiots at State or the British Foreign Office are too stupid to realize that they aren’t smart enough to run the whole world. No one is except maybe Klaus Schwab and his globalist groupies [that’s sarcasm right there].

No, you need to get Stalin out of your head. The Soviet Union ended 35 years ago. Russia is the freest, most Christian, capitalist nation in Europe. Why you want to fight a world war against Stalinists who disappeared 30 years ago puzzles me.

just a euphemism for a deity worshipped by desert tribes that grew into a major sociopolitical movement later adopted by many nation states.

Grandpa and grandma Han shuffling along in walkers and starving because Big ChiComm government aborted their children is not a good look for China as a world leader.

I’d substitute Fiji for China because it’s better to die sweetly under a palm tree than suffocate in a collapsed building.

Yes and a GDP only slightly higher than the state of Texas. I don’t know in what parallel universe you believe Russia wins a war with the US. 😅.

I’m not sure it’s exactly correct but it’s not crazy out of the realm imo. All this is just my informed opinion, my information is limited and my opinion is my entitlement lol.

First of all only the USA is the superpower. You can define that word as you want but having nukes is not the only criteria. More importantly is power: alliances, economic power, soft diplomatic power, and power projections. The US is the only country that has snow ability to flex all of that. When the ragtag group of Arab Rednecks called the Houthis were driving around in pickup trucks terrorizing the Yemeni people and government nobody could stop them. The people just stood by. The government which had a real army fled to exile in Riyadh, and the Saudi Government with $100s of billions of US weapons couldn’t even stop them, and they are right next door! Then when the Houthis started to mess with Gulf oil trade and Europeans and Asian trade none of those people could stop them either. They called on the US to dispatch warships and fighter jets to protect Europe, Asia and the Gulf states. What a joke these countries are without us. We put our asses on the line every time when this region is not even that critical to us - it only matters because we want trade and stability and a way of life so we go in and straighten things out. The Houthis finally agreed to stop attacking ships in the gulf after a few weeks of us hitting them. The EU doesn’t have the capability and the Saudis tried and lost.

China is a power and a regional power but their soft power is challenged the further away from China they go, and their hard power is untested. Nobody wants to tangle with them, and they know if they tangle too much they have a lot to risk economically. So sure we can work with them, within clear limits, annd everything is cool. Except that India has potential to be as strong as China so from a geopolitical view we should support India as a counterbalance to China. China is strong now but in 20 years? Will India swipe a big chuck of their importance? I’d bet yes.

The attitude towards Russia has been screwed up for over a decade. Yes they have a lot of problems inside the country and yes we should expect them to be better neighbors but, just there is no other way to say this politely, they are basically Europe. They are white and Christian and at least partly in Europe and have been involved in European affairs for centuries. Perhaps it was all that Hillary Russia Russia Russia hysteria that made the global left elite go full on Russia hate. But Some of it has to do with trying to minimize Russia’s natural strengths. They have all the oil and gas Europe could need and yet Europe goes out of its way to irritate and isolate what should be an excellent trading partner to them. Instead the EUers have cut ther nose to spite their faces. They want a weak Russia and so they did stupid things like provoke them into wars and unilaterally decided to cut Russian energy out of their markets etc. At this rate Russia will be more important than Europe. Europe is stupid now and they are pretty much as authoritarian as Russia is: the main difference is that European balconies and highrise windows are more sturdy.

Trump may feel his own kind of way towards Russia but a pragmatic view should be to mostly (but not entirely) Ignore how they run their country internally
