Republican Virginia Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears’ gubernatorial campaign rolled out a new ad Wednesday morning, the Daily Caller News Foundation has learned.
The release of the ad, titled, “Always,” is the second video the Earle-Sears campaign has put out highlighting the lieutenant governor’s background, including her service in the Marines, working class roots and status as a first-generation American. The Earle-Sears campaign is putting $1 million behind the 30-second video, which spotlights her work with Virginia Republican Governor Glenn Youngkin to lower taxes and improve education. ...
“I’m no typical politician,” Earle-Sears says in the ad. “I’m a first generation American, joined the Marines, graduated college as a working mom, raised a family, became a grandma, 1st woman elected lieutenant governor.”
Youngkin, who is barred from running for a second consecutive term due to Virginia state law, endorsed Earle-Sears’ candidacy in November. The race ... is one of the most-watched contests of 2025 and is likely to be seen as an early indicator of the two parties’ performances in the 2026 midterms.

thanks but when people post things like this can they please add a simple clarification in brackets like “[VA]” so that we know what is being talked about and don’t have to go searching to find out.
Try reading the first sentence. It says Republican Virginia Lt. Governor…
You might find it helpful to read the snippet. Note the second word...
She’s a great candidate. Deserves support from you VA freepers out there.
I like the ad…. She does need an introduction to voters, as she has not been a newsmaker for the last four years.
Democrats will be running all hate ads all the time against her
Some Freepers dislike her, because she said something bad about Trump one time.
I don’t know what it was she said that angered those Freepers. Just observing when her name has come up in the past, there’s lots of negative comments about her.
I would certainly vote for her if I lived in VA. I have liked her for a long time.
"Virginia state law bars governors from running for a second consecutive term."Whoa, never knew that. So a person could be Virginia Governor three or four times as long as there are no consecutive terms.
And I never knew this, either: historically, other states had similar "no succession" rules, but by 2000, all except Virginia had repealed them.
That's actually not a bad idea. It gives a state a breather from the governor and a chance to evaluate new blood. But, if they like the first guy more, they can return him to office. That could be a good alternative to term limits which are SORELY needed in Congress.

I did and it is great news. I am merely commenting that it is helpful if the title of the article conveys what we are talking about here. For instance if it were Mass whoever the GOP candidate is is virtually irrelevant to anyone interested in likely directions of national politics. VA is an matter of general interest.
Andy, I know FReepers don't view videos, and are loath to click on a link to open an article, but is reading the FIRST LINE OF AN ARTICLE too much to expect?
There are lazy FReepers but most will wait at least until the end of the first paragraph before they start bitching, go get a coffee before you post your mea culpas.
The first line is an improvement. The issue is whether to click or not. If it were Massachusetts I wouldn’t bother because it doesn’t matter.
TOPICS: Virginia
topics is one of the more useless features on FR - IMHO. It’s just me. I read the headlines click on some and not on others. I don’t click on every post. Maybe if I were in VA I would search on VA topics. I live in DC and I am not going to search on DC topics.
> Try reading the first sentence. <
To be fair, Andy is just following Free Republic tradition. We should all honor tradition.
- Here less than 1 year: You really shouldn’t comment. You’re a newbie.
- Here 1 to 5 years: Read the entire article before commenting.
- Here 5 to 10 years: Read the excerpt before commenting. Don’t worry about the rest of the article.
- Here 10+ years: Just glance at the headline. Then say whatever comes to mind. Your comments don’t even have to apply to the article.
😀
It's in WA, and the headline is pretty self-explanatory so I will decline to click on it. Were I a bee-keeper or allergic to bee stings this might be of more personal interest and I would read it. Or if I were a traffic safety enthusiast, or....
I did read the post and my feeling is that it’s an important post so put [VA] in the headline so that those interested in the VA gubernatorial race know that we are not talking about the governor of the Solomon Islands, which might be of interest to others interested in that topic, like wow, does Solomon Islands have an elected governor [PS I don’t know]
BTW, I plead guilty to the charge generally.
She’s a black woman. Won’t all the democrats vote for her?
Oh, never mind.
LOL. It’s a meme here on Free Republic, about people commenting who have not read the article. It’s just one of those things.
