President Donald Trump’s tariffs on imported cars have yielded yet another win for the American auto industry as Volkswagen plans a “massive” investment in the United States to avoid such duty costs.
In April, Trump announced 25 percent tariffs on auto imports to protect the nation’s auto workers and industry from unfair competition.
Volkswagen, as a result, has entered negotiations with the Trump administration, reportedly resulting in plans for a large investment in the U.S. auto industry, according to The Guardian:
Volkswagen, Europe’s largest industrial group, has said it will make a “massive” investment in the US. The group, which includes Porsche, revealed it has been in direct talks with Donald Trump’s administration as it faces damaging tariffs. [Emphasis added]
Oliver Blume, who heads the group, said the talks were “constructive” and “fair”, in an interview that suggests the company, whose market capital is £44bn, is not willing to leave tariff negotiations to Brussels alone. [Emphasis added]
…
He said the Volkswagen Group “intends to continue investing in the US” and would build on its partnership with the American electric vehicle manufacturer Rivian with “further, massive investments.” [Emphasis added]

Tariffs, the corporate tax cut, deregulation and drill baby drill in the US vs high taxes and Gaia Worship leading to energy costs that are FOUR TIMES higher in Germany.
Its not a difficult choice to make. Several other German companies know they have to move manufacturing out of Germany and are investing heavily in building/expanding factories in America. For example BMW, Mercedes, BASF, Audi, Siemens, Bayer and SAP have all announced major expansions in the US.

Those Leftist activist judges are like the democrats and don’t want any investing in the US , they want everything to go someplace else
Energy prices in Germany keep going up so it’s cheaper to move operations to America. Maybe they shouldn’t have relied on Putin for their energy.
I believe they are going to move Audi production here because most of that brand autos are sold here.
Go to Mexico. I think they still make them there. Or import them to Mexico.
However, they do not have all the pollution devices to make them legal here.

Well, Trump did warn them about that - and all that they did was literally laugh at him. Gee, who’s laughing now?
The other aspect is that the Krauts basically dismantled their coal and nuke plants - they slit their own throats. Now they have to choose whether to power their industry and freeze in their homes in the winter, or be comfortable at home and shut down their factories. How incredibly stupid of them!
I was never impressed with Audi, but some people in America like them. A friend just bought a RS, very nice but for me not worth the money.
Some orange guy said something about this about 4 years ago or so, but I can't remember. But who really listened to him? He has 60 or so bankruptcies the press said....
It has always seemed to me that Volkswagens’ are over priced. The early Bugs were relatively cheap.
Me neither.
