It's well known that San Francisco is a urban disaster area, what with malls moving out, hotels shutting doors, conventions moving to other cities, thieves looting retailers with impunity, little shops fleeing, and entire districts full of homeless drug addicts looking like Dante's seventh circle of Hell.
But has anyone asked what's going on at Fisherman's Wharf, the city's most famous tourist destination?
Sure, it's known as a tourist trap. But everyone likes to try its famous Italian and seafood restaurants at least once.
Now it's a ghost town:
Fisherman’s wharf destroyed … go woke go broke
So sad what “progressives” have done to cities pic.twitter.com/PcLKFK7XC1 — Make L.A. Great Again 🇺🇸 (@lalovestrump) May 27, 2025
What a sad place, everything boarded up, all the famous seafood restaurants -- Alioto's, Tarantino's -- gone. They aren't coming back.
These are the restaurants on what is sometimes called Pier 40, the true location of Fisherman's Wharf. When I lived in that city 30 years ago, it was getting pretty scruffy with all its tourist trappings. There also was a hellhole public housing project near the cable car turnaround that was a source of ongoing violent crime. Whose bright idea was it to put that kind of place there, where all the tourists could be victims? I wondered.
But there were establishments there and people went to them. Now there's just empty space and artifacts from the past, blowing around.

Question-will it stay that way?
How I hate the Left.
Hope the Left gets kicked out of SF and CA and places like Fisherman’s Warf revives.
I thought the sea lions destroyed it, years ago.
Sad- i was there last about 28 years ago with my then GF, now wife...enjoyed New England clam chowder out of a bowl made from sourdough bread, went to the Ghiradelli store and ate at a great restaurant on the Wharf which sold Golden Gate Ale on tap, which was incredible...

[redacted] Newsom wants to do to America what he did to SF and Commiefornia. And the sad thing is he will get nearly 50% of the vote.
Glad i got to see it several times before the demise. The last time the downtown area was inhabitable but was great to take the tout bus thru. In years past it was a place you could walk around.
Sad!
We went to one of these restaurants on my trip to San Francisco back in the 1990s!
If you’re going to san-fran-cisco
better watch for the human shit on the sidewalks
there’s a lot of drug addled bums around
be sure not to step on the used needles on the ground......
San Francisco is a beautiful city that most of the inhabitants do not deserve.
No, Pier 39 is another touristy place where they have a Bubba-Gump’s restaurant east of Fisherman’s Warf.
No city went all-in on the COVID shut-downs more enthusiastically than San Francisco.
And it’s not just Fisherman’s warf, small businesses all over the city were devastated, and so many former owners of those shops and restaurants were forced to move just to survive. It will be a generation before any recovery can even begin. I do think that it will, though. It’s a beautiful location, never gets too hot in summer, or too cold in winter. But they have a ways to fall before anyone decides to try to begin a repair effort.
It’s dead. Even the dopey guy dressed as a bush won’t hang out there. It will come back, though, as it becomes the world’s center for AI tech. I still flip houses there and have no problems with renovated listings. They go fast.
Leftists are not only incapable of managing anything but destroy everything they touch.
Their self-loathing voter base continues to get sicker.
Very misleading without a “before” video and stating the day/time of the current video. For all we know it could be a Sunday morning at 7am when everything is closed.
Michael Savage saw that coming years ago. Even back then he called it “San Fransicko”.
Was there in the late 80’s, a company paid for a group to take a cruise boat out in the bay around Alcatraz and such.
Had dinner there somewhere.
All good things come to an end, when democrats rule.
