Sen. Ron Johnson (Wis.) suggests he might not run for reelection

Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) on Wednesday suggested that he might not run for reelection in 2028, possibly resulting in a race for an open Senate seat in a notable battleground state in a few years.

“I learned in my second run, when I absolutely meant ‘second and final,” you can’t say never, never, okay?” Johnson said during a Milwaukee Press Club event on Wednesday when asked about a 2028 run.

“I don’t want to,” he added. “Yeah, I’d like to dig my heels in now, set this nation on a sustainable course and then go home.”

In the 2022 midterms, Johnson narrowly won over his Democratic opponent Mandela Barnes. Johnson’s race had been seen as a chance for Democrats to take down a sitting Senate Republican in a state that former President Biden had narrowly clinched two years prior.

Johnson first became a senator in the wake of a 2010 election in which he made his way to victory on a Tea Party-fueled wave that assisted in Republicans securing the House that year.

Hey Mr. Johnson, should you not run for re-election please spend consider working on a movement to repeal the 17th Amendment. Besides the $37 trillion in federal debt the 17th is the worst, most dangerous agenda item in the US’s history.

He is just another RINO backstabbing Trump as much as possible. He was the first Senator to say he would vote against the bill passed in the House. With friends like this, why keep him in the Senate? It’s bad enough that they only work 4 days a week, but they take months off work. 90% of them think they are the equivalent of the British HOUSE OF Lords above all else, and their staff are even worse...Adios to a back stabber....

Bologna. He’s done more to expose the covid scam than any other senator. Trump isn’t a king.

It’s irrelevant. We’d have the same or similar crooks whether or not they were “accountable to the state legislatures”.

“Trump isn't a king.”

Unfortunately, too many people around these parts haven't gotten the memo. You can support him 90% of the time but disagree with him on a couple issues (for me it's tariffs and the BBB) and you'll get called a “free traitor”, a “RINO” a “Never Trumper” or sumptin.

Seems like most don’t like adding to the debt. I’m shocked you are cool with it.

Dear Greg, I suggest this, and that’s why I wrote what I did. There is nothing wrong with disagreeing with the President of your own party, but to do it publicly in a Democrat paper is not kosher in my book ( 20 years of fighting time in the USAF). I am finally free from City Government, and it’s a lot of fun.

If Johnson retires he can cash in on what I refer to as a “campaign contributions retirement fund”.

Most do when they accumulate a lot of $$$.

I wouldn’t if I were him. Wisconsin Is the Official Cuckoo’s Nest of the United States of America. A bunch of crazy, beer swilling, cheeseheads. Ollie and Olga.

Oh good, Wisconsin will have a new democrat senator, just like before when the position was institutionalized by democrats.

Yes. It’s a shame.

He’s been there 3 terms though so unless persuaded maybe he’s had enough

Hey Mr. Johnson, should you not run for re-election<

Once retired, he'll just be "somebody that we used to know" and ineffective and irrelevant.

We will miss him. He wins. Nobody else can. To think he almost lost to a man named Mandela. We’re not like the left. They live for this stuff. We have lives.

We will miss him. He wins. Nobody else can.

Imagine that. Being the only man alive (in that state) that people can rely on.
