You don’t get to pick a fight and then blame the person trying to peacefully resolve it.
The American foreign policy establishment that brought us the war in Ukraine now claims that it is Donald Trump’s war. We’ve seen this movie before. When the war in Vietnam became unpopular and seemingly unwinnable, the “best and the brightest” of the Kennedy–Johnson administration that escalated America’s involvement in the war, and their supporters among the foreign policy establishment, called it “Nixon’s war” when the new president took office in 1969. Now, neoconservative writer Hal Brands, a member in good standing with the foreign policy establishment, writes in Bloomberg that the war in Ukraine is Trump’s fight, whether he likes it or not. It was, after all, the foreign policy establishment and several successive administrations beginning with Bill Clinton’s presidency that planted the seeds of the current war in Ukraine by recklessly and mindlessly enlarging NATO and publicly discussing Ukraine becoming a member of NATO, and later helping to facilitate a “color revolution” which deposed a pro-Russian Ukrainian government. Brands was an enthusiastic supporter of NATO enlargement, and refuses to assign any blame to U.S. foreign policy for the Ukraine war. Instead, Brands blames Trump for “savag[ing] America’s role in Ukraine” and for failing to punish Putin for Russia’s aggression.
Worse, Brands outlines a “strategy” that would get the United States more deeply involved in a war where we have no vital interests at stake. Here is what he recommends: “[S]ustaining U.S. and European weapons shipments beyond this year, so Ukraine can keep killing Russian troops in droves … [B]one-crushing sanctions … to crater Russian oil sales and hasten the...

Hal Brands is an idiot.
So President Trump started this war three years ago as a private citizen while the democrats were trying to put him in prison????
Seems Hal is ignoring the wise advice of not going to a battle of wits unarmed.
It is Biden’s, Russia’s and Ukraine’s war. President Trump is trying to clean up the mess.
No, but if he doesn’t get us out it will start to stick to him.
I agree - I wish he’d hurry up and walk away.
President Trump will be blamed for EVERYTHING no matter what it is. It is like when they started charging him with “crimes”. At first it was big news but as they piled on more and more fake but accurate charges it just annoyed people and they didn’t care. The proof of that is he won the election.
If he doesn’t get us out, he is pretty much responsible for it going forward—especially with it likely to metasticize.
Nah, Ukraine is the demoncRATs & RINOs war from the start. They keep wrongly advising this little dweeb and he listens with apt attention while these demoncRATS & RINOs keep the war machinery running.
“””If he doesn’t get us out,””””
I didn’t know we were “in” the war.
That’s a fairly good synopsis of the situation.
Somebody has to be the last to know, I guess.
Nope. It’s biden’s all the way.
It’s not our war.
You think the Ukes have the tech and equipment and satellites and knowhow? They’re just spinning it all up on their own?
Not our war.
Ask Biden. He is the one who sent the money to his favorite laundromat.
I will revise my question, since you deflected.
The US Congress gave $350,000,000,000 to Ukraine to conduct the war.
But you express confusion about this being "our" war?
Do I have that right?
