If the provinces were admitted individually rather than all together as one big super-state, the electoral ramifications might not be all that bad. The Senate in particular would probably trend more conservative if that happened.

We need to tell Trump we American Conservatives do not want uber-Liberal Canada as a 51st state.

As to the “Golden Dome”; yes, if it is to cover Canada as well as the U.S., then surely Canada should pay some portion of the total cost of the build and operations. The later part of that can be accounted for by Canadian military operations of any elements of the operations sited in Canada.
