After fishing out the contaminant, I’d suggest that he shock his pool with liquid chlorine. It may take several 5 gal. jugs, depending on the size of the pool. It would be a good idea to replace the diatomaceous earth in the filter prior to shocking. Let the pump run continuously for a day or two, and be sure to scrub the pool walls. It might be necessary to change the DE in the filter during the process.

Can you imagine the bloat and bodily fluids that are in that pool? I don’t think there is enough Shock and chlorine to ever to get me to get in the same water.

When I had my hot tub, I would run some chemical they made, I called it the de-gunkifier, which cleaned out all of the old dead skill cells and oils that accumulated in the pipes about every 2 months

I had an in ground pool at my former house. 22,000 gallons.
I still remember. It was several hundred dollars to have it filled when I rebuilt it. They brought a semi tanker truck in to fill it. It was originally a vinyl liner pool that caved in after living there for ten years. I rebuilt it in the same hole as a gunite pool. Sold the house about seven years later.

The worst thing I ever found in the pool was a frog or a mouse. Frogs would jump in and end up bloated floating upside down in the skimmer.
