(AFP) — Chancellor Friedrich Merz said Monday that Germany along with Ukraine’s other key Western backers had lifted range restrictions on weapons they send to Kyiv to fight against Russia.
Merz, who took office early this month, also vowed that “we will do everything in our power to continue supporting Ukraine, including militarily”, in close coordination with other supporters.
“There are no longer any range restrictions on weapons delivered to Ukraine — neither by the British nor by the French nor by us nor by the Americans,” he said.
“This means that Ukraine can now defend itself, for example, by attacking military positions in Russia… With very few exceptions, it didn’t do that until recently. It can now do that.”

Thank you very much and God bless you.
They’re gonna learn someday.
Maybe that volcano blows at Naples Italy and takes their minds off this crap.
A good VEI 7 or 8 should do it.
If you really want peace, both sides must have an incentive to compromise. In this case, that means more pressure on Russia.
The Europeans keep poking the Russian wasp nest thinking the wasps will surrender …..as if all of history supported their fantasies
Cool... and when a Kraut missile hits Moscow or the Kerch Bridge, they can be ready for the response.
Why is he including America in this statement? He doesn’t speak for us. The WH should immediately put the German Chancellor in his place. He does not speak for U.S. foreign policy, especially on matters that pertain to conflicts.
there is internal pressure in congress to do this as well. trump is walking a tightrope trying to appear amenable to both the war and not-war factions/goals.
this puts onus on admin. to deny the US permission.
we may be in a situation similar to WWI’s start, where some principals absolutely did not want a war, and got one anyway.
German Citizens did Nazi that coming.
Islamonazi Terrorists residing in Germany did.
Indeed.
If we are going to have a REAL proxy war, why be dragged into it on sh*tty terms for our side? A la WW1?
I suspect Trump would increase the toolbox being used including things we have not admitted to having. Look for public ramping up of drone production, Etc., and more artillery shells and tubes.
The leak about the German missiles said they need German techs to target them.
Phrases like “no limits” are the pathway to the UK and France providing Ukraine with nuclear weapons. The odds seem about 100% that Zelensky has requested them.
Refusals need not continue if the “no limits” philosophy gains hold.

This is the budget fight. Trump can’t go overboard in either direction until the budget bill — in some form — passes.
Why is he including America in this statement?
Because this policy has been coordinated with America, and America, under President Trump’s leadership, has also lifted its former (Biden-era) range restrictions on the use of American provided long range weapons inside of Russia. (as long as the targets are legitimate Military targets, under the laws of war)
America has also resumed providing reconnaissance and surveillance Intelligence for targeting such weapons within Russia (e.g. satellite and Global Hawk drones).
President Trump had suspended such targeting support, but after Putin’s repeated refusals to cease fire or settle the war, US support to Ukraine has resumed, and previous restrictions on American weapons use have been removed.
So in your mind it isn’t the simple range limits being removed, it is that we (NATO) are sending nuclear weapons to Ukraine to start a nuclear war in Europe against the world’s second major nuclear power.
That is what you think?
What he’s doing is authorizing attacks on Germany. Russia will no doubt use a terrorist group(s) to work their infrastructure. Plausible deniability is a term we here in the US are very familiar with.
Been going on for over 3 years.😂
He's consistent, actually. Russia is stronger than Ukraine. Israel is stronger than Gaza. In both instances, he's siding with the weaker party.

Whaaa? This is said where?
Maybe I was not clear. The UK and France have nuclear weapons. Zelensky would be insane if he did not ask to be given some, so it’s reasonable to presume he did ask.
UK/France would appear to have refused so far — but when a “no limits” philosophy progresses in the default attitudes, this next step clearly would do the same — progress forward.
Where is the threshold to get above refusal? Hard to say, but it’s not hard to say that threshold gets closer with a “no limits” philosophy asserting itself. Almost obviously so.
Reap what you sow Germany.
German Citizens did Nazi that coming.

Nazi is not pronounced “Not See” but “Nazi” because there is no T in the word.
