A 62-year-old Mexican national, deported from the United States in 2017 but allegedly gained illegal re-entry, was taken into custody this week after being suspected of embezzling $7 million from his employer, authorities said.

Alexander G. Ramos of Newport Beach was charged on Thursday, May 22, with fraud, a felony that carries a sentence of up to 20 years in federal prison if convicted, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Ramos was being held without bail.

According to an affidavit filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Ramos was employed in the victim company’s risk-management department from 2017 until his termination in September.

When will the DOJ go after employers who hire illegal immigrants?

Agreed. Although some employers may be victims of identification fraud by the employee.

How does a company just not miss 7 million dollars? The auditing department needs to be retrained, charged as an accessory or fired.

seriously, no one missed 7 million? Or the company was very generous in it's refund policies. 7 million? Mind blowing to a moral mind.

So the company hired an illegal alien, and evidently had no audit or verification system in place.

Why didn’t the company just leave bags of $100 bills all along the southern border? That would have saved everyone involved a lot of time.

Possible victim employer?

The victim company seems to be not well publicized.

I wonder if the department assess the risk of hiring Illegals in positions where they can steer money to themselves.

That’s about a million a year on average for the perps employment period. That does seem rather suspicious.

“How does a company just not miss 7 million dollars?”

I don’t know this company, but if a company is making, say, $70M a year and steering a large part of it to upper management as bonuses, there will be a tendency to keep some distance from the nuts and bolts of the operation and simply say “keep doing what you’re doing”. Human nature.

The business he looted engaged in buying “classic cars”, which by nature have subjective values. Per the indictment, here’s his methodology:

“Ramos allegedly caused checks to be issued from the victim company to certain parties, including a Las Vegas DMV services business. The checks were supposed to cover expenses for tax, titling, and licensing associated with car purchases. However, Ramos purposely caused his employer to send too much money to the outside entities. He then directed those entities on how to dispose of the extra money, including by sending the funds to bank accounts that he controlled.”

“A 62-year-old Mexican national, deported from the United States in 2017 but allegedly gained illegal re-entry, was taken into custody this week after being suspected of embezzling $7 million from his employer”

So, in the vernacular of an 80 year old (octogenarian), he is a pair-a-illegal? (TWICE an illegal).

Not only that, he did his employer a favor by coming back to show him just how vulnerable he was to embezzlement.

I LOVE the illegals! /s

“”””The victim company seems to be not well publicized.””””

I noticed the same. There must be some really bad background story that is keeping the company name out of the indictment.

But but but...They commit less crime than native born Americans. Just ask these Democrat legislators:

“The crime rate among immigrants is far lower than the crime rate among native-born Americans,” New York Rep. Jerrold Nadler asserted confidently. “So the whole issue is wrong.”

“Immigrants commit crimes in this country at a rate lower than natural-born citizens,” added Connecticut Sen. Chris Murphy. “So, if you want a safe town or a safe neighborhood, you are better off if you have immigrants.”

Speaking on the Senate floor last year, Murphy added, “Whether you choose to want to believe the facts or not, that is not my decision, it’s your decision, but…but it is the truth.”

John Lott and Ann Coulter put that MYTH to bed:

Agree.

I once worked for a company and the resident comptroller confided to me that his job was essentially to say ‘no’ to every request to spend company money, even though the company was basically printing money with lots of lucrative contracts. The owner’s wife also was in the approval chain.

The comptroller said he might approve expenditures after the third request, reasoning that if something is really necessary or value added the people who want it will persist. The owners later sold the company for a fortune. That’s where I learned a lot about cost controls.
