A stray dog survived a 45-minute coyote attack earlier this month in Orange County, fending off at least five coyotes that circled it in a residential neighborhood

Every dog thinks he’s a wolf
The dog was immediately adopted after the story came out.

Duke. A good name for a tough Orange County dog.
You will note that most of the coyotes try to distract the dog while one or two circle around to nip at its rear heels. One good bite on the Achilles tendons and that dog would have been as good as dead. The dog had to quickly turn to deter those while still holding off the frontal attack.
Good job. It’s amazing its still alive.
Ah yes Brea Cal my hometown left there in 1970
Thanks for the link. Poor, brave dog!
Damn Coyotes, we hear them every once in a while.
its an antifa training film
I often see signs offering a reward for a small pet. Likely he was killed by coyotes or hawks. People don’t realize the danger.
Lucky dog. I’d love to rescue him.
Yep, you need to make sure you don't put a small dog in danger.
12 ga.
With time, numbers, and habituation, coyotes can become a threat to people too. Worse, they inhibit the herbivory that can help keep vegetation surrounding habitations from becoming a mass of decadent fuel. To control them, they have to be shot because poisoned baits are illegal. You can bet that guns going off in suburban California would awaken the ladies, even when mourning their "lost" pets...
I live in the rural WUI amid an upscale suburban culture. These people are nuts.
A 45min animal attack in a residential burg and NOBODY went out to see what the ‘Ell was happening? What a pack of losers.
What if it had been a little kid being eaten? Tall animals, like humans, are very threatening to smaller, even coyotes. Carry a broomstick or a BB bat and you are not in danger — at least insofar as it takes you to find out what the ‘Ell is going on.
Pack of cowards. Oh, and I’ve looked at the video — no reason for not going out there to investigate.
My neighbors were looking for their dog months ago and said using a drone they saw lots of coyotes but no dog..!!!¡
I think we know what happened to the dog.
I despise all these re-wilding,restore nature idiots.
There are good reasons the old-timers killed off bears, wolves, coyotes, AND hawks.
Those reasons are pets, children(and people in general),pets, domestic livestock and fowl.
I grew up in La Mirada, but passed through Brea quite often to go to Carbon Canyon, the landfill, the Firestone Boy Scout Reservation, the A&W Root Beer stand up on Imperial Hwy, etc.
For years the giant Eucalyptus tree next door was home to a pair of barn owls. You’d better believe I insisted that my daughters accompany their small dogs when they went outside.
12ga might hit Duke, 22mag semi w suppressor!
Bet you’d whack 3 or 4 b4 they bailed!
