U.S. President Donald J. Trump said that he will speak to Russian leader Vladimir Putin in a phone call on Monday aimed at bringing an end to the war in Ukraine.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, President Trump said that he will speak with Putin at 10 am on Monday morning, following the first round of direct talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul since the early aftermath of the 2022 invasion.
“The subjects of the call will be stopping the ‘bloodbath’ that is killing, on average, more than 5000 Russian and Ukrainian soldiers a week, and trade,” Trump wrote.

Thank you very much and God bless you.
The president is trying to bring some civility to the world with no help from anyone. Just the sheer force of his will.
If Putin does not agree to cease fire on Monday, and Trump drops the bone-crushing sanctions on Russia, the likely response by Putin will be to re-Sovietize Russia to an even more marked degree (extensive central planning and control, and more repressive restrictions on individuals, perhaps rationing), and to print rubles at a hyper-inflationary rate (6-12 month delay till the full inflationary effects manifest). A series of economic crises will roll out in Russia over the rest of this year.
In 2022, people thought that putin would drag Ukraine back into the Soviet Union, but in 2025, it is clear that it is Russia that is being dragged back into the Soviet Union.

Sanctions drive Russia and China together.
I will pray for a positive outcome.
Sanctions drive Russia and China together.

….more than half the world’s population. Don’t forget Undia. Stealing their sovereign wealth funds in the West put the world on notice…” do as we say or we steal your money”. Senile Joe created a problem Trump will not be able to fix.
That is why Brics developed their own settlement system and many nations are selling off Treasury debt instruments….and buying Gold….in historical amounts.
As for Sanctions, with over 700 already in place and Russia’s growing GDP, they are proven ineffective .
Remember, Trump only has only two years left effectively. IF Trump can’t turn it around, we will be saddled with another senile Joe who will easily flush us down the toilet.
Thank you Mr President.
Russia needs to be drawn away from China.
1. End the sanctions
2. Create peaceful trade deals between America and Russia
3. Accord the areas of Ukraine east and south of the river, including Crimea, to Russia
4. End all military aid to Ukraine

Exactly, Russia has much of what we need, the EU nothing but sorrow. The EU is a bigger threat to us than Russia is.
“Sanctions drive Russia and China together.”
Sanctions on Russia drives them to China, but significant sanctions on China for doing business with Russia, would drive them to throw Russia under the bus.
That is what is being discussed now - prohibitively large (”bone-crushing”) tariffs on buyers of Russian oil, and other products. Senator Graham has gotten the support of a filibuster-proof majority of 72 Senators, for a proposal that would impose 500% tariffs on countries that buy Russian oil. European leaders also seem to have been coordinated with, to possibly join in with secondary sanctions.
No way that China, India or Turkey (who together buy the vast bulk of Russia’s oil exports) would take that kind of hit, when they can simply order their tankerloads from other producers.
Putin has no intention of stopping the war, no matter what sanctions 47 brings. To stop would be a death sentence for Putin - there is no upside for him in peace.
2. Create peaceful trade deals between America and Russia
—
That is akin to saying create trade deals between America and the Mexican cartels. Russia is run by gangster crime families.
Which would be incredibly stupid given that it would hurt us more than Russia.
Doubling down on Biden's failed strategy would be a disaster.
If Zelensky doesn't face reality and get serious about peace, it's time Trump cutoff all military aid to Ukraine. That will end the war within six months.
And, minerals deal is useless until the war ends.
Thank you very much, Kazan, I appreciate that.
(When) “Trump drops the bone-crushing sanctions on Russia”. (Which he said he will do, if Putin doesn’t ceasefire)
Kazan: “Which would be incredibly stupid”
So you are saying that.President Trump is incredibly stupid.
Looks like we will be finding out soon, if Putin refuses a ceasefire on Monday’s phone call.
Trump is the Boss.
Trump has WISELY kept his distance from Vlad.
And calling long distance is just another way to do that.
Trump’s political smarts tell him that any face to face with Putin must have a predetermined successful outcome.
But Zelensky is the fly in the ointment.
There will be no peace as long as he remains in power.
The phone call is just checking a box on his to do list which is an exit strategy from this STUPID war that Uncle Sam has no business writing the checks for.
