Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday urged allies to impose more sanctions on Moscow should Russia not agree to an unconditional ceasefire at ongoing talks in Istanbul, Turkey.
"Our number one priority is a full, unconditional, and honest ceasefire. This must happen immediately to stop the killing and create a solid basis for diplomacy," said Zelensky, addressing fellow leaders at the European Political Community summit in Tirana.
If the Russian representatives in Istanbul are not to agree to a ceasefire then "the world must respond," he said.
"There needs to be a strong reaction, including sanctions Russia's energy sector and banks," Zelensky added.
"Pressure must continue to rise until real progress is made. Ukraine is ready to take all realistic steps to end this war. I call on (Russian President Vladimir) Putin to give his delegation real authority."
Zelensky stressed that "the Ukrainian delegation has a mandate to make decisions."
"This week we had a real chance to take important steps toward ending this war. If only Putin had not been afraid to come to Turkey," the Ukrainian president said, alluding to Putin's absence from the negotiations.

Zelensky holds no cards. Fold, or get ready for more land loss.
Dictator Zelensky could be holding out because there's still more money he can grift.

LOL, this guy really believes he is that important. I could care less whether he, or Ukraine for that matter, survives the night. It means nothing to me.

Luke 14:31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? 32 Or else, while the other is yet a great way off, he sendeth an ambassage, and desireth conditions of peace.

Really? It’s certainly not the “world’s” war. And the “world” is certainly not Zelensky’s allies.

Exactly right!
Zelensky must get ready to lose more land, and Russia will increase their control of about 20% to a whopping new total of about 20%.
Dictator Zelensky could be holding out because there's still more money he can grift.
When it comes to dictators, which one was actually elected by his country's citizens, and which one just continues to hold power by fear, intimidation and threats of death?
It is said that Putin is likely the richest man in the world, with a fortune of about $200-$300 billion. Which one is actually guilty of grift, Z or P? Z will be gone after the war ends, while Putin will continue to rule with an iron hand.

It’s certainly not the “world’s” war. And the “world” is certainly not Zelensky’s allies.
Anything that happens in Europe, and anything that happens with Russia involved, is the world's problem.
When it comes to allies, Ukraine has more allies than Russia, with all of Europe on Ukraine's side, including the NATO countries. Add to that the U.S., which has been allied with Ukraine for decades.

I held a meeting with the President of the European Council

.
I informed them on today’s negotiations in Istanbul. Pressure on Russia must increase if it does not agree to a full and unconditional ceasefire. I am therefore grateful for the preparation of the 17th sanctions package. We expect it to target everything that funds Russia’s war machine: banks, oil, energy, metallurgy, and the shadow fleet.
Special attention was given to our path toward the EU — the possibility of swiftly opening negotiation clusters and trade cooperation.
Thank you for supporting Ukraine and helping bring us closer to a just peace.

Agreed. At least not this part of the world.

Perhaps that is what is happening deep down most of the world doesn't care if one group of Russians kills another group of Russians (Ukrainians) its basically a civil war between doche bags who haven't had enough of fighting and killing yet. Most of the activities of these countries looks corrupt and leads to making the world a more dangerous place.
The future for both of these countries is much bleaker because of this war.
The lesson here is never give up your nukes especially to the Clintons when you have Putin as your next door neighbor.
With president Trump driving the price of energy into the ground one wonders how much longer can they both afford it.
I don't think there is any winners in this war except the arms merchants

Zelensky and the EU's goal is to keep this war going and get us involved in it.
Trump must cutoff ALL military aid to Ukraine and get out of this war or he'll own this mess. Let the EU assume ownership of the war.

Trump needs to turn over sole responsibility for the war in Ukraine to the EU and get us out of it, period.
The last thing we need is for us to participate in sanctions that will cause inflation here after inflation has started to come down.

“This week we had a real chance to take important steps toward ending this war. If only Putin had not been afraid to come to Turkey,” the penis flopping maestro of the piano said.
“Just because I have one of the best assassination teams on the planet at my beck and call” shouldn’t scare him. Just because I told them there will be OT pay coming means nothing.
I just hope they don’t miss like they missed Trump. OH, almost forgot, You come along with Putin. You can ‘ride’ with him from the airport to the hotel. Probably shouldn’t have said that to the media. Doesn’t matter, they already know.”
Media: “we’re going to have to edit this one boys. Go to it.”
Z: “ Trump and Putin, Come on down. Gonna be a party. Gonna slap down some high notes on them ole piano keys. Casual dress allowed. Be there or be square, suckas”
