Hostage's father to UN: 'We're here with a message in the name of the deceased'
Arutz Sheva ^ | 15/5/25

Ruby Chen, father of hostage Itay Chen, addressed the United Nations Security Council today during a landmark session on Resolution 2474—the Council’s first formal discussion on missing persons in armed conflict since the October 7 Hamas attacks. Initiated by the United States, the session brought the voices of the families into the heart of the international arena. He called on the Council to establish a dedicated UN body to address hostage-taking as a distinct and ongoing violation of international law, and to ensure the resolution is fully implemented and enforced.

In his speech, Ruby gave voice to the collective anguish of hostage families—especially those whose loved ones were murdered and whose bodies remain in Gaza. Joining him at the session were Itay’s 14-year-old brother Alon, members of the Goldin family, and the Neutra family.

He stated, “We ask the Security Council, in the names of the deceased that do not have a voice, to immediately implement Resolution 2474 with sanctions to those that disobey them. Furthermore, in light of the negotiations going on in Doha, we cannot allow a reality where there will be a new UN resolution declaring an end of war in Gaza without the release of the last hostage, living or deceased."

During the session, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon told the Council ambassadors: “Hamas has turned the bodies of the murdered into an industry of death. It uses them to negotiate, to bargain, to profit. This is not a mistake – it is a strategy.”

Ambassador Danon demanded: “Implement the decision you made and establish a UN special envoy on the issue of returning the bodies of the kidnapped.”

The UN has never won a war or a conflict.

They have never stopped one, either, that I can recall.

You know what I don’t understand...

Why Israel let that venue with such a target rich environment so close to the border go without a large military presence to protect the concert goers.

Why aren’t Israelis raising hell about that...

The concert goers were celebrating a full year of cease fire with Gaza. Several of those in charge have voluntarily resigned and left public life. But not enough.

The hell raising is being done by leftists in Tel Aviv, who presume to speak for the hostage families and demand an end to the hostilities in exchange for the hostages. Stupid gas leak.

This is not a TV war. Israelis right now have their sons, nephews, brothers, even some daughters, in harm’s way fighting this war. Some have been horrifically wounded, others killed, and others are slogging on. The time for recriminations and blame starts after it’s over, and it’s been going on too f@#$ing long! Normally, I’m no fan of Bibi. Now I am fed up with him entirely, but his uppance must come afterwards.

It was basically a rave party and location was given out at the last minute. It was not approved by the Israel government...

The UN seems to exist primarily as a vehicle for the nations of the world to get together and tell each other how much they hate Israel.

With the activities of the UNWRA, the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice, it becomes clear that the UN is a belligerent against Israel in the current war. The actions, and intentional inactivities of the UN General Assembly and the Security Council only make this more apparent.

The UN should be considered at war with Israel.

There was a comment by, I think Caroline Glick, that a couple of months before the massacre, the IDF insisted that the Israeli people be essentially disarmed. This is similar to an obscure report that some months before the 9/11 massacre, commercial pilots in the USA also had to be disarmed.

Someone may wonder to what extent both these disasters were setup. It implies infiltration by elements of Muslim imperialism into high US policy making positions. This also goes for the Israeli case, as amount of influence of Biden administration policy makers over elements in Israel is relevant.

The party did have armed guards. However, they were not enough for the sheer scale of the invasion...

Same thing with all the kibbutz’s and small military bases. All were armed but no way ready for the sheer number of people in the invasion...

The cold war between Israel and the UN has been ongoing for decades, maybe from before 1967. Could be they were p!ssed about the capture, trial and execution of Adolf Eichmann from Argentina, and things went downhill from there. The US State Department opposed Truman’s recognition of Israel from the getgo, but he went and did it anyway, G-d bless his crusty old soul.

With 80% of the UN vote, the OIC drives the UN against the big and little Satan.

Kinda makes sense from that perspective

The 80% is from memory, might be as low as 76/77.

Nice to be popular. Psalm Two prophesies about the comic opera War of Gog and Magog. Gilbert and Sullivan could not have dreamed it up. And it sounds a lot like the UN starting in the first line.

The use I have for the UN ranges somewhere between zero and none at all. It’s been useless since day one and keeps getting worse. I’m guessing the UN is one of FDR’s great ideas.

Another example of the road to Hell being paved with good intentions, except even the intentions are no longer good.
