Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) said Wednesday on CNN’s “Inside Politics” that he will not support the House spending bill because it has “real Medicaid benefit cuts.”
Hawley said, “It ought to be just a basic foundational principle, it is wrong to cut health care for the working poor, and that’s what we’re talking about here with Medicaid. My state is a Medicaid expansion state, over 20% of Missourians, including hundreds of thousands of children, are on Medicaid.”
He added, “I don’t like the idea of decreasing funding for rural hospitals. I’m worried that the House bill goes way too far in that regard. I also don’t like what is basically a hidden tax on working poor people who are trying to get health care. I mean, this whole idea of we’re going to charge them now additional co-pays in order to access health care — have to say that this sounds like a tax to me. So, now we’re taxing poor people when they’re trying to get access to health care. I’ve got big concerns about that.”

By the time it’s done it will be something none of us would support.
There will be adjustments for it to pass, but this is standard negotiations (or at least the appearance of).
I have not a clue as to how to evaluate Hawley’s comments.
Free “emergency” medical care for illegals should be switched to free medi-flights home.
Midterms are around the corner and our POS COWARDS intent to lose purposely to kill off any solutionary bills that would kill off their cash cow from corrupt companies and the pharmaceutical power arm! We gave them EVERYTHING a second time and they are squandering it away. I’m so sick to my stomach I could scream!
I am in favor of cutting federal government spending
...
unless people in my state are getting the money
Now think about how quick Biden’s multi-trillion dollar grifting bills passed.
The Republicans supported every bill Biden vomited up, in four years, except the one border bill late in his presidency.
And they passed all his Judges, Cabinet, and people.
They’re just trying to eat up time and hamstring Trump.
As Tyrus said on the Five, it’s not just the Demscum we have to worry about. It’s the Deep State jerks with an (R) by their name.
Does this also mean the SNAP cuts and work requirements are done?
Is there a list of what these cuts are?
I don’t know what’s in the bill but the GOP would be playing right into the hands of the left if they cut Medicare or social security benefits in any way. Medicare may be a little more complicated as I understand it many states double dip their reimbursement requests. If that is true it needs to be exposed.
We don’t care Josh.
Fully able bodies should have to work to get it and for a limited time.
All new disabilities since obunghole need to go back into the garbage can.
No illegal should get it period.
What I learned in Trump’s first term.
There is NO such thing a conservative United States Senator.
Little Beauregard Sessions was the poster boy for conservative office holders.
And in a New York minute, he stabbed Trump in the back and showed his loyalty to the likes of Mitch McConnell and John McCain, both of whom claimed to be “conservative”.
The United States Senate is a snake pit.
And when you look closely, what REAL difference is there between the snakes claiming to be liberal and the snakes claiming to Republican besides pretentious rhetoric?
Like Massie and Paul, Hawley is all talk.
Medicaid has been steady expanded in many/most states since Covid and beyond now. Some states surely lump illegals in with their actual citizens they cover, and expect the fed tax dollars to cover it. Don’t know Hawleys state situation specifically.
Proposed cuts to federal Medicaid funding could lead to significant impacts on individuals and states. These cuts, potentially reaching $880 billion over 10 years, could result in reduced benefits for enrollees, increased state spending to maintain coverage, ***(and a loss of access to care for millions of people)***.
Who gets the ax or even it out?.
