Lawmakers from both parties fell asleep during an all-night hearing as Republicans successfully moved Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill to cut taxes and secure the border through its initial House committee.
The House Ways and Means Committee held a 17-hour long hearing to discuss the merits of the “big, beautiful” bill that will extend the Trump Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, secure the border, rein in wasteful spending, and more.
Although Republicans successfully advanced the bill out of committee, it did leave a toll on some lawmakers.
Videos have emerged of Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) falling asleep.

She got her job simply because she was the wife of longtime lib dem John Dingell.
I doubt I’d have stayed awake.
The male ones are used to prostitutes giving them relaxing shoulder massages as the politicians contact their aides to put muscle on their sources of bribes to pay up. Stress.
Every time we complain, justifiably, about a law, remember it is these weasels who passed the laws. At all levels.
What kind of stupid BS is an all night marathon hearing for a tax bill? They have taken a ton of vacation and barely work during the week.
In German companies, the worker who stays late into the night is not seen as a hard worker “burning the midnight oil”. They are seen as inefficient and unable to get their work completed during normal hours.
That is how I see this stunt.
And the name Congress chose “big beautiful bill” is also a scam. It will not end taxes on Social Security, and it will not permanently codify the fraud and theft found by DOGE.
But they will walk around crowing that they gave Trump everything he wanted and now we may not demand anything else.

Nothing good happens after 11 pm.
